Diecast Models - Where to buy?

Out of curiosity - what scale do you guys usually collect? I haven't had any diecast cars since I was a kid and collected Matchbox but those were tiny. Quick glance at Wikipedia tells me that 1:43 is the most popular size but "not in America."

I do realize that bikes are usually larger scale than cars as well.

I collect 1/18th f1 and 1/12 motogp/superbike all minichamps mostly. If you have no space 1/43 is the way to go but I could never justify the price/detail of the small ones to the 1/18th. The 1/18th have more detail and are about $30 more

The models I got were 1:12 scale, but just saw Welly released a model that is 1:10 scale. Its more of a "toy" than a scale model.
I do have a great 1:18 size model too..

Cool stuff. I have a Matchbox Triumph with sidecar. I bought it off ebay many years ago. I had the exact same one as a child in the early 60's but lost it. It was probably one of my early motorcycling influences.

I collect Hot Wheels motorcycles- when my boy was born 16 years ago, I started buying every Hot Wheels motorcycle and other unusual Hot Wheels I could find; I'd go into Toy'r'Us, Zellers, Walmart, etc on a regular basis.

I now have over 100 bikes and another almost 100 cars, all going back 16 years and all carefully stored away in their mint packaging. Haven't bought many over the past 5 years or so.

I have a few Motogp and manufacturer in 1:12 scale. But I started following Motogp last year,so I might end up getting the winner every year in 1:10 from now on.
