Damn these pre-spring prices

So you're telling me that bike a) 2010 gsxr 600 with 10k km all stock is worth exactly the same as bike b) 2010 gsxr 600 with 10k km, full exhaust, power commander, marchesini rims, ohlins shock etc.. ?

To the average buyer, absolutely yes. And that's why I agree with selling the aftermarket parts separately. You're pushing the boundaries of what I consider common mods though with full exhuast system, new wheel and suspension components. Someone who appreciates those mods might be willing to pay a premium for them. I see this happen when one track junky sells to another.

I agree - i'd rather a stock bike than a fully modded one by far

When ever ive gone to buy bikes in the past ive looked for ones that were as stock as possible, mostly because people expect to get all their money back for their mods and if i bought a bike that was already modded ide be bored with it if there was nothing else to do...I like wrenching on them in my spare time.

Id rather buy a bike that already has tasteful mods on it. Why would i spend my money on a 600$ damper, 200$ on levers, $1000+ on an exhaust when i can buy a bike from someone and let them take the hit instead?

I will never understand this Toronto Tim Hortons hangout mindset that 20,000 kms on a 5 yr old bike is lots.
Get real.

I tried to sell my 2004 10R race bike with 31,000km on it!!!! It may as well have been a million, and the frame was crumbling to dust!

I'm shopping for a ZX-6 right now, and the cheapest I've found was a 2012 with 4k for $8400. That's really cheap compared to everything else I've seen out there.

To me it's because if I buy a stock one all the extras are exactly what I want and I'm not settling for what someone else liked.

to be completely honest, i would end up taking it apart and making sure its actually put together properly, then replacing the stuff they cheeped out on with quality parts.
my buddy bought a bike at the end of last season with a few mods on it...i told him we had to fix a few things, ended up taking all the mods off (except the exhaust) and re doing everything, fixed all the hacked wiring jobs, re torqued everything and now its good to go.

every bike ive bought has been mostly dismantled and modified and double checked within the first week or 2 of owning it, i just dont trust other peoples competence of installing anything properly.

Keep looking! We just got a bike in the shop for wheel powder coating, it's a 2011 zx6r re painted white. The owner just bought it locally for $6200, I don't remember the km but it wasn't high. And besides the repaint job I see no damage what so ever on the bike

or new deals on old stock/floor models.

ZX6s were going out the door for 9000ish, these ****ing clowns are wanting 8-8.5 for 3-4 years old bikes...

Exactly, there are so many benefits to doing this
1) You dont have to waste time to actually schedule a meeting with these clowns. I hate having my time wasted.
2) You have a wide array of bikes to choose from. Where I want there were at least 10 r6 from different years. Ducs not as common, but there were still some.
3) A more legitimate financial transaction (some private sellers have asked for "cash only" and were not willing to accept a cert cheque)
4) Delivery and having the vehicle plated and registered. Saves me the hassle of having to wait in line and take time from my day to schedule delivery etc. To me this service alone is worth at least 500bucks. - Think about it, 2 hours transport (coming and going), scheduling a tower, going to services ontario plus wait time (2 hours). Thats essentially a full day of admin work.

I am all about saving money, but when it comes to dealing with some random off kijiji I rather save my self the hassle.
