custom made chaps

Any which way you want to slice it or call it, The"power ranger" with the matching bike will still have his skin and his face if he wipes out. Good luck to you and your beanie.

This thread pretty much declines from here, but it is worth adding that Redd Foxx is known to have said something along the lines of, "All those health nuts are going to feel stupid some day, lying in hospital beds, dying of nothing."

Ride safe kids.

Okay, granted it's a pose. But c'mon. . .the power ranger in the full getup riding the litre bike; all with matching colour schemes etc. . .that's not a pose? Is he honestly riding to not get noticed on that thing in that outfit?

Personally, I wear a lot of what you listed, sans the vest with the patches. First, I actually pretty much only wear black, like skulls, bullets, demonic imagry, etc. I dunno. . .maybe the cruiser just attracts people who like those things. I've always been into that kind of stuff. So it wasn't much of a strech. . .

The beanie. Never planneed to wear one. Always rode with a full face until I tried one. Never looked back. So sometimes the uniform is just the person, only amplified a bit. So what. There's a little bit of almost everyone into bikes, custom cars, etc. that dig the ego boost. But they also do it cause they like it. I don't think it's so bad.

What I posted is observational tongue in cheek. I can easily do it to sportbikes as well but that just wouldn't be as much fun when I get together with friends who ride cruisers.

As far as the Power Ranger outfit goes it has a lot going for it. Kids go crazy, wave, etc cause you look like a comic book character. When I wave back then that sets a tone for loving bikes for life to the impressionable young. The protection level is insanely high compared to average riding gear. The bright colours help you get noticed by the cages, which is a good thing. And it gives the amazing feeling that only being surrounded and encased in a dead animals carcass can arouse.

The guys who dress up in their one piece Dianese to go 2 blocks to pose at Timmies are another breed entirely and worthy of much ridicule. :)

I don't get it really, when i go sailboat racing we have full color matched rain suits and nobody gets mocked, snowboarders and skiers wear stuff to stay dry and warm, nobody pokes fun of the grafics on boards.
Who really cares if its dress like a pirate day or a Rossi look alike contest? Too much energy wasted with some of you guys.

I doubt if anyone actually cares, it's in fun. Sailboat racing eh? Is that like the movie Boat Trip?

Because it's all about criticizing anyone that doesn't agree with your way of thinking then rationalizing why their view makes no sense.

Personally, I don't care what anyone wears or doesn't wear. I do object, however, to people saying that wearing chaps is as safe as armoured leather riding pants. That's just silly. You want to wear chaps? Go ahead. Explaining that it's because you like the look or because you're protecting your legs from road debris makes some sense.

Me, I often wear full leathers and I can assure you it isn't for attention. I'm most happy when no one notices me. I just find them comfortable and safe.

I"ll remember to quote Redd Foxx to my buddy who had his flesh taken down to the bone when he came off his bike. I'm sure that will make him feel better.

Sounds expensive.

Sounds expensive.

It can go both ways, my fixed costs for the 28ft boat is about 5k whether it ever leaves the dock or not. The 24ft is a dedicated race boat and is "dry sailed", so it only launches to go racing . That saves about a grand, but we "consume" more sails and incur repairs, like any sport racing is hard on equipment. Keeping two boats runs me 10-12k a yr, but the cost for boats are exponential, a 40ft doesnt cost double a 20ft to keep racing, its more like triple. Its the cost of being amused.... and I'm at the bottom end of the scale.
