custom made chaps

Serious question, what use are chaps on a motorcycle ? Is it more fashion than safety ? Like the leather vests cruiser bikers wear?

I wear mine for warmth and protection from road debris mostly. Some of the best money i've spent on gear.

Ah , makes sense as most cruiser ppl just wear jeans.

Once it's warm out i just wear jeans most of the time. Unless im doing a bunch of highway (rocks thrown up) or im riding potentially dirty roads or with a group of "sporting" riders.

The roll up fairly small and tuck nicely into a saddle bag. If I get cold while riding it only takes moments to put them on, or if im going somewhere i can take them off even quicker. Much more convenient then leather pants or a full suit. Although both of those offer much better protection overall the hassle would keep me from using them regularly.

It's a shame that chaps are seen as a strictly cruiser thing.

Chaps complete the uniform of all cruiser riders. After the beenie, vest, cute little stickers all over the beenie, cute little patches all over the vest/jacket, and denim vest to go over the leather jacket to ensure the cute little patches are still visible. Nickname patch is optional.

Chain drive wallet and full on goetee is the next level up.

Seriously, IM Leather can whip up a custom set for you. Located in Hamilton.

There is a leather store on Yonge St in Oak ridges, North of King Rd on the West side.
Leatherville: 13390 Yonge, Richmond Hill, ON L4E 2P6 (905) 773-9287

I had a pair of custom chaps made there a few years back and am very-much impressed with the quality of the materials, the workmanship, the fit, etc., etc. The price was good too!

there is a shop down on Ottawa Street that can put together a pair quickly. It's close to Barton St, sorry don't recall the name.

They sell a bunch of leathers, boots, and other "biker" gear.

not sure of the quality, good luck

I have a friend with that stuff. Quality is not a word I would use. But they do repairs and exchanges readily.

Okay, granted it's a pose. But c'mon. . .the power ranger in the full getup riding the litre bike; all with matching colour schemes etc. . .that's not a pose? Is he honestly riding to not get noticed on that thing in that outfit?

Personally, I wear a lot of what you listed, sans the vest with the patches. First, I actually pretty much only wear black, like skulls, bullets, demonic imagry, etc. I dunno. . .maybe the cruiser just attracts people who like those things. I've always been into that kind of stuff. So it wasn't much of a strech. . .

The beanie. Never planneed to wear one. Always rode with a full face until I tried one. Never looked back. So sometimes the uniform is just the person, only amplified a bit. So what. There's a little bit of almost everyone into bikes, custom cars, etc. that dig the ego boost. But they also do it cause they like it. I don't think it's so bad.

I know of thise place; it's beside a cleaners. My buddy used them a lot. . . they've got a great rep, and apparantly you could bring him a jacket you bought somewhere else that's priced through the roof, he'll measure and take notes, you take back the jacket; he makes you a copy more suited to your curves & folds, and it's cheaper.

Chaps are actually quite comfortable. I bought a pair for a colder ride up north and now, if its the least bit cool, I wear em'. Some people laugh, especially at the buttless view; but whatever. . .I could ride all day in them and not have to stop to get warm, cause the wind doesn't penetrate the material or go up the leg like it does when I'm just wearing jeans.

Best 200$ I ever spent on gear. . .other than a jacket.

Some guys like to ride al fresco, but still need some protection.....

Any which way you want to slice it or call it, The"power ranger" with the matching bike will still have his skin and his face if he wipes out. Good luck to you and your beanie.
