CSBK Mosport aug19-21

Couldn't make today due to work, looks like that was once close race between Jordan and Brett.

Have to give credit to CSBK.ca website for their live timing and their twitter acct for quick updates, spent the majority of the day following the races online.

Weather looks iffy for tomorrow.

He let him lead most of the race then snatched it away from him at the very end. Couldnt have been closer. The difference in times was retarded.
Had way too many beers during the delay.

Had a blast myself too. Tons of fun. A little sad the Super sport got rained on but it was interesting to see a mix of liter bikes and 600's duke it out in the rain.

Amazon - we spotted you from across the track :P
Nice bike!

Apparently Szoke was almost down to fumes and, when he got on the gas to pass back (which from my angle in the corner I thought he had), he got nothing. Bogged.

I was on corner 5 all day. Rode the bikes down as far as possible and parked them in sand. Not a lot of fun getting them back out, but we managed.

Great racing. Szoke and McCormick were on fire. Missed the XR1200 because of the delay and prior engagement. *sigh*

Had great time there, did some demo rides on the 2011 cbr600rr great bike.
On way home got to see pickup in ditch turning to fast in rain on a corner, same with car taking out hydro lines and then group of bikes pass me 1 of group no gloves and other shorts and bang 1 of then goes down lucky the police and fire truch were already at car accident to get to him in less then 1 minute.

What a mess. Hope everyone got out in alright condition.

So thats what happened.
I was at turn 3, listed to that part on my radio.

Just downloading the pics to my notebook, so that I can work on them tomorrow morning. McCormick Passed on the inside at the apex, of the final corner. Szoke slipped around to his right and got hard on the gas, looking like he overtook McCormick at the start of the pit wall, and that's the last thing I saw. Heard him talking about it later, and then heard again when I talked to his father, Bob.

Couldn't have emergency help there any faster.
The cop ran up the the street and I have no idea how he went down they all passed us at slow speed and then 5 feet from passing us 1 went down and the road was clear so it must have been a fellow rider from their group or him that caused it as they had all open road going towards Mosport as everyone was leaving.

BMW always puts on a stellar event, this wknd was great, enjoyed the Sat night concert. They only lost a GS800 to a demo ride incident, in the parking lot. Suzuki had to take out a Bandit12 from the lineup due to a guy off into the ditch, rode it back though! If you want to dump a bike, try the BMW off road ride, they don't mind at all - in fact it's encouraged! Mosport CSBK is certainly a premier event, glad to see familiar faces. Can't wait for next year, thx for the tip above on the BMW ticket in, gotta buy that next year for sure.

I heard him talking about it, while waiting for McCormick to make it back from his victory lap. I'm a photographer, not a writer, but I should listen a bit during the podium speeches

We do not encourage damaging or crashing during demorides!
At no point in time do we encourage any activity that could result in an injury. If you are on a demo ride and you do not abide by the set rules we take you off the motorcycle and you wait to be picked up.

Correct ! Certainly on road, no hijinks are allowed or encouraged or should be practiced! I should have said that the off road guys do not 'mind' if someone 'falls over' in the sand from stalling or otherwise - the bike is not the main concern it is always rider safety. What is encouraged afterward is to point out the incident for all to learn from and to also demonstrate the ease in picking up a bike in that position. So if someone were to attend and thought that dropping a bike means they are going to buy it - then maybe they should try the off road excursion first to test their 'abilities' rather then take one out on the road and have a mishap ! Certainly coming off the pavement out there would be no fun - but flopping off into the sand / grass / shrubs during the off road excursion is a great learning experience and the guys guiding the group are excellent in making it just that!

Cheers...

Yet again.. camped out in the usual spot, had a great party, great racing and a great time. Anyone make it over the CASCAR event and see that guy write off his nice Dodge pickup? We were infield turn 2 on the ridge and saw the 2 crashes in the AM. Sportbike. Scary times when you don't see the rider moving at all for a considerable time after a crash there. The 2nd crash you could tell his leg was broken or badly injured the minute he came to a stop. I did not mind the wait at all because it was in the name of safety. It was a good time to just chill out and talk with friends. Plus, Szoke's Kawasaki Racing Team drove the track and were throwing hats into the crowd. I snagged one for my wife who is a Kawi rider!
