B Brian P Well-known member Moderator Site Supporter Jun 29, 2012 #162 I am not 100% sure, but I think the first year for slipper (back torque limiting) clutch in the ZX7 was '91. The '89 and '90 ZX7 used the old Ninja 750 engine with a different cylinder head, and there was no slipper clutch on those.

They weren't adjusted for the purpose from the factory, and basically little marketing was done for the feature. Zx750 and ZX7R had the back torque limiting clutches but they were tightened up so much that it made very little difference. The 03 ZX6RR kicked off the trend.
