Two members of the Sharp Rider team came to California this past week to work toward certification in the Total Control Intermediate Riding Clinic. I was fortunate to get some time to work with them during that week and am very honored to say that they both passed and will be brining the Program back to the greater Toronto area to help riders improve skills! Congratulations Donna and Randy! It was not easy and was a pretty intensive training and despite temps of up to and around 100 degrees F they stuck it out and showed us what they can do!

Now riders in the region have the option of the Intermediate Riding Clinics or the Advanced Riding Clinics which we have offered for the last four years. It has been some time since I have personally been up to help out with classes but hopefully in the future we can change that and I will be back again!

Everyone Lets give a round of applause for the hard work and commitment that they both have put in to help the riders in the region be better riders!

Congrats!

Congratulations and Commiserations. :D

It must be rough trying to teach those who already know it all. ;)

Well at least when teaching the Total Control Classes those attending have realized they do not know it all and are open to listen and learn since they are not there to meet any requirements.

That's great. The classes I've been in, every once in a while . . .

Congrats Donna! Loved level 1, looking forward to level 2.

Congratulations

What are the differences between intermediate and advanced... Or is it just a different name for level 1 and level 2

The Intermediate Course (IRC) is for the beginner that just got their M2 license, doesn't have the required 5000 km of riding experience yet but would like to increase their abilities and understanding of motorcycle riding.

In the IRC, we teach things like Quick Stops and Swerving.... when to use which one, and why.
Slow Speed Turns and Road Speed Turns and how to position our bodies to do those effectively.
Line Selection
and so much more.

After the IRC comes the ARC, which takes those riding skills to the next level.

I know that when I first got my license, after taking the M1 Exit course, having never ridden a motorcycle before, I was terrified that after only two days of instruction in a parking lot I was now "ready to ride on the street". I would have greatly benefited from a course like the IRC. It's the same structure as the ARC, only it doesn't push the line THAT FAR in this course. Total Control is all about the building block type process.

First you crawl, then you walk, then you run. Our M1 Exit Licensing course is considered the crawling portion. The Total Control equivalent of this is the BRC, which is now the licensing course that is taught in California. The next step is to crawl... this is the IRC course (Intermediate). Finally, we are ready to run... the ARC. ARC is broken up into level 1 and level 2. After that, there is a Track Clinic and of course a full suspension course. There is no shortage of available learning.
