And as a bonus, the Caravan thieves will also get the bonus of everything left inside the stolen Caravan.

For would-be bike thieves, that means one stop shopping. Instead of stealing a minivan so they can cruise underground parking lots looking for a bike to load into the stolen minivan, now they'll be able to get their stolen minivan preloaded with a bike already. Can't beat that for convenience.

You must think they can drag the van out without a running motor ( who would have thought of a van with no ecu, plugs and hidden handbrake?

However you can pick another pos mini van. Chances are they will take a van on street than underground.

Or you can make the van look un rideable..... Blown tires? They need a van for a job not parts.

Your opening post said "old rusty caravan with running motor".

Either way, all condos require a vehicle in a parking garage to be currently licensed. Derelict vehicles left in the parking garage will result in the condo sending you notice requiring you to remove the vehicle from the garage or they will do it themselves.

Even if you could leave a van down in a spot, where does your daily driver car or truck park? How convenient will it be to load/unload a bike to/from the back of a van every time you want to use it? You haven't thought this one through, have you?

To be fair, this is a suggestion that is made often and is made by more than one party. However, I think the main problem is that it underestimates the (rising) value of a condo parking spot

STFU on sh*t u have no clue about.

I protect my sh*t with GPS-app-laced phone in my 2nd seat compartment.

They steal my sh*t, WE will fuccin track em down!

Some quality postin right there...

But yea this is easy and cheep obstacle of overcome these days. Not only that if you do track them down you and your "crew" going go over and talk to the organized crime owner of warehouse/chop shop were it is?

Also why would you use a phone when you can get a specific device that does the job much better for roughly the same price as a phone(if not cheaper).

Thanks Einstein.
Additional parking spots only run $35k - $50k in most downtown buildings.... if you can find one.

hold onto your day job.

There was a Reddit AMA done by a motorcycle thief, interesting read. Anti-theft technology is a just part of an arms race. IIRC, even Ducatis with chipped keys were being stolen. Alarms and GPS trackers were quickly disabled or jammed. Moto-specific chains/locks weren't much of a deterrent unless several were being used.

Theft insurance is your best bet, plus not riding a $$$ motorcycle. Most of the bike theft reports on this forum seem to share one thing in common: no theft insurance. If you don't like them apples, start making serious dough and buy a house with garage instead.

Good luck parking your rusty van on a condo and not have the board tow it away, look a the contract!
and do you even know how much does a parking spot in a condo costs to park a van wiht a bike inside? you could buy a couple of brand new bikes

Thanks for coming out

Prolly cheaper to buy an old SV or other random bike, and ride to your shiny new supersport that's stored elsewhere.

the whole chipped key thing went out the window when people realized the key is paired to the ecu, so its easy to replace a $50-$200 ecu and program it to not need a key or to any new key you want.
thats what was happening with cars..pop the hood, swap the ecu and crank her over just like the old days.

The contract only say valid sticker nothing about condition of the van. Hence you can get a van for under $2k get valid sticker then put insurance into storage mode. You only need to redo it every 2 yrs

You dont have to buy a parking spot. Just rent one which you have to do anyway for your bike right?

And i dont even know what timmies is.

Thats because the industry is so far behind in tech. Soon we will have online authentication option available to premium brand like Ducati....
