cold weather riding gear

would love to hear from people what they are using for cold weather riding gear. Considering last year was pretty bad - cold/ rainy/ short and this winter is never going to end, I think its time to invest in some heated gear. Like many of us, I'm cheap as hell and heated gear appears to be costly so please let us know where you all found good deals.

My preference would be something thin like thermal base layer that can be plugged in but fit under leathers, but maybe someone out there has a better idea. Let us know. Thanks

Heated grips, cheap and help considerably, at least on my snowmobile. Also a "dickey" or whatever those half turtle neck things are, close up the gap on you neck and make a big difference for little coin.

Turtle Neck
Thin Balaclava
Heated Vest
Heated Grips

my legs can take the cold really well. As long as my core stays warm I can survive.

There is constantly heated gear coming up for sale for on ADVrider in all kinds of sizes and brands. Often very cheap compared to new.

This topic gets repeated every fall. A search will turn up the same answers.

For me:
Dickie
Heated grips
Wind deflector added to my farings
Oversized leathers with Ski Jacket over top
Rain gloves
Extra socks in oversized boots...should try heated socks though.
Thin Balaclava if really cold

Get as much heated gear as your bike can power/you can afford. One of those purchases that you'll wonder how you managed with out. Once you do decide to invest in heated gear, don't get the Gerbings troller, the Warm & Safe wireless dual troller (Powerlet rebrands it as well) is the way to go. I made that mistake my first time around.

Being able to ride all day a bit above the freezing point in perfect comfort, without feeling like the Michelin Man, is a fantastic thing.

Current setup is as follows, total cost was about $350 with some creative ebay'ing

Warm & Safe wireless dual troller
Warm & Safe Gen 4 jacket liner
Firstgear pant liners
Firstgear socks
Gerbings T5 gloves
Oxford heated grips (good when I don't have the gloves, and nice with)

I can ride for extended periods on the highway in freezing weather with all the above, and not much else besides my Technic Freeway suit. I add a Chaos balaclava for the really cold weather, but that's it.
