Chain lube and cleaner???

Those brushes are pieces of ****. My parents bought me one when I was a total rookie. I use wd40 and old ****** clothes to clean my chain now. But this DuPont stuff is truly king. So clean.

Are you referring to the aforementioned eBay brush with three sides o the Tirox spiral brush?

I used to use those tirox chain brushes that wrap around the chain. The same ones I see on display at the bike shows. It ripped my o rings apart on my chain after a few cleanings with it. because its too aggressive. I just use a toothbrush and wd-40 sparingly unless I have a can of chain cleaner sitting around.

I clean my chain regularly with the Tirox brush and I haven't had an issue in 3 years. I wonder how hard you're scrubbing the chain?

The one I had was called "The Grunge Brush" and it was the three sided variety.

I could see it for a dirt bike maybe. If your chain is ever dirty enough for this thing to affect it, you're doing it wrong.

Wiping it off the outside? Or you individually take off links and wipe each o-ring dry? lol Pretty sure they soak in the WD-40 if you're spraying it on and it's getting on the o-rings. Like I said, do whatever you want though! My opinion won't sway you... :D Cheers!

Lots of people use only WD-40 with many thousands of miles on their chains. WD-40 will not ruin your chain lol.

Kerosene clean and lube with your choice of lube.I use whatever is handy at the time.Dupont teflon is good, but i'll use 80wt gear oil or even just motor oil if necessary.
This is a Ducati vid,but the chain doesn't know any different.

I do enjoy the smell of that chain wax, but do to my tendency to over apply I make a mess with it.

Anyways I update from Lowe's parking lot in London. Don't bother coming here tonight, I just bought the last 4 cans. Won't be needing any more for 2014.

Problem with motor oil, gear oil or most lubricants is that it goes everywhere!

The dupont stuff tends to run off a lot less, and when it does its barely noticeable

I also use Dupont Teflon Chain Saver... However I am on my last can, and do not believe it is available in Canada. If anyone has a hookup, please let me know. I am about to try to order a case in Michigan if I have to.

huh??? wait for spring . go to Lowe's ( in canada). Observe said product. purchase. spray. enjoy.

EDIT: nvm...I see you got them

Seems there is a little confusion over the DuPont lubricants.

Original DuPont formula in the middle, the one that webBikeWorld highly recommended but now discontinued. New formula in similar looking blue can on the right. Notice it no longer says "Dry, wax". Too runny so webBikeWorld dropped it off as a recommend. Chain saver product in yellow can on the left is what DuPont now recommends for motorcycle chains and claims the formula is similar to the discontinued formula. I'm using it and pretty happy with the results.

I posted a pic of the stuff I picked up from Lowes here: http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforu...lti-Use-Lube&p=1892750&viewfull=1#post1892750

Why would it? Over 45,000 km on the chain and sprockets and they still look new. The results speak for themselves. I don't care who disagrees, they're flat out wrong.

These threads drive me nuts. I have over 45,000 km on the original chain & sprockets using only Wd-40. No other cleaner, lube or wax. Other than for tire changes the chain has only needed a slight adjustment twice. I use a liberal amount of the stuff weekly. It won't hurt the chain.

Actually, I do know better. I'm not soaking them in it, just spraying on and wiping off.

I use it once a weekend. Wash the bike, spray the chain, go racing. If you can't be bothered to do that then what condition is the rest of your bike in? Using WD your chain doesn't get all gummed up and dirty like some chain lubes either.

Use whatever you want but saying WD will ruin your chain is incorrect.

Exactly. If you're using a lube that sticks, dirt will stick to it causing the chain to wear faster. In that situation it should be cleaned more often which becomes a pain in the *** because the lube is hard to remove. By only using WD-40 clean up is quick and easy.

If you only do chain maintenance once a month, it's not going to matter what method you use.
