Can you ask an officer to charge an individual if they admit to breaking a law?

If only they had a program to eliminate senseless car crashes, road rage and a plain disregard for the rules of the road...Oh wait, they do ! It's called Road Watch.

I recently thought about this for fun.

We all know there are many people who run reds to make right turns (hell, even I do it once in a while). Then there are also the people who are making turns and turning into the wrong lane. Sometimes us riders are fortunate enough to dodge these fools. Personally, I am a very angry individual and would like to break the legs of the driver and make sure they don't drive again.

Lets say I followed the person home, called the cops, and got him to admit that he broke a law, would this have any impact except humiliation?

If you tried that on me I would charge you for trespassing into my driveway, or better yet, I would punch you out as soon as I saw you following me home but not before I call 911 and say "I'm being followed and I think this guy wants to rob me, I'm going to defend myself, send the police anyways".

I really hope this is you just venting frustrations and not a legit question. Chill out, kick back...Eat a dirty panzo and all will be well :)

Under the HTA, the officer must see you commit an offence, so simple answer is no. However you could certainly get charged with trespassing and criminal harassment for following the person home. Probably get punched in the face as well.
