Buying NEW out of province

I checked for old threads first, and they were all about buying used or previously registered vehicles in other provinces.

I want to buy a new bike, but nobody in Ontario seems to have the one I want. There's a couple in Quebec, though... Is this kind of transaction possible? I could see dealers refusing to do this due to the hassle of dealing with unfamiliar paperwork. Ideally I'd ride it home from the dealer. Has anyone done this, anybody have any advice?

Anyone?

I bought my new GSXR last year from Quebec.

Dealership didn't mind at all. I paid GST and QST in Quebec. Then when I got back to Ontario I paid the remaining Ontario tax. I filed some paperwork with Revenue Quebec (need to send them original bill of sale, etc.) and they refunded the QST I paid. It took about 5 months to get the refund though.

Who registered it? How much of the process were you responsible for yourself?

All the necessary paperwork was done at the dealership in Quebec. The paperwork for me was the same paperwork they would use Quebec customers (it was all in French). I gave them a bank draft for the amount and they gave me a Quebec ownership for the bike (registered to me). Then when I returned to Ontario I went straight to the MTO and let them know I just purchased a new bike in Quebec. They did up my Ontario ownership and I paid them the Ontario portion of the tax.

For me, it was the same process as buying new in Ontario (except for paying tax twice, but you're refunded for the QST).
