buying a jacket for first time

buying a "real" jacket for the first time here, i've come down to this one mainly.
But I'm having hard to choosing the color. Do you think all black is better than black+white?

My main concern is, for the white parts, will they be hard to clean?
And is having white with black better for visibility, that's what I'm thinking.

IMO, all black is easier to recognize due to silhouetting.

And, if you care about the white staying white, it will have to be cleaned more often.

edit: just noticed that those are the textile versions. White shouldn't be too hard to keep clean, just a few wipes every now and then.

No, I'm saying a figure is easier to distinguish from a complex background (e.g. riding in the city) if they are 1 solid colour vs multiple colours and patterns.
 
just get black, white is a b!tch to clean and keep clean.

imagine going for a long ride and coming home having to scrub all those dead bugs off the white part of your jacket

+1 if you actually ride and not pose, white gets nasty real quick. Go with the black.

I wore my white jacket once, the back now has road tar on it...

Get something you will actually wear, owning full leather does you no good when you leave it at home because ita too hot.
 
I have both a white jacket and a black one.

Unlike others who've chimed in, I've found that my black jacket gets dirtier quicker than my white one. Dirt seems to get amplified by the black colour. If I were you, and was worried about getting your jacket dirty, I'd get something other than black or white. Grey is probably the easiest, carefree colours out there.

In terms of visibility, I think neither an all black or black and white combination jacket will have any significant difference. If you really want to be seen, best thing is one of those reflective vests. Dorky, yes. But, virtually guaranteed that others will see you.

i was going to combat this with a hi-viz helmet. yes, all yellow solid helmet. Do you think that's dorky?

I'm currently thinking of upgrading my jacket to a full-on leather jacket (likely Alpinestars Celer), and have a question regarding fit -- I know these things are supposed to be tight, but just how tight? I tried on both a 54 and a 52, and the 54 felt good, taught across the chest, but I could rotate the elbow armour slightly (not really at the elbow, but at the forearm). The 52 was bearable, but I couldn't put my arms down at my sides fully with the jacket done up, and it was tight across the shoulders and armpits (almost uncomfortably so).

My other question is, a lot of people say these things will stretch/break-in (even though it is loaded with stretch panels), so would a 52 break in to a 'size 53' (which isn't made) per say? I know my leather gloves were slightly painful at first, but after riding for a few months they fit me perfectly (but no stretch panels, so the leather had to give a little).

My gp pro jacket was tight AF when I bought it new this season. Now the thing fits like a second skin. I swear its like tailor made for me

Go with the 52...it'll "grow." I have the Celer, great jacket....pricey but makes up for it in quality.
 
Also make sure you'reat the weight you want to be at. When I bought my jacket I was a lard ass, now that ive lost 50lbs it's quite big on me. Something I didn't think about when I bought it :s
