building a ramp for a shipping container?

Things evolve. Ramp Version 1.0 worked but had safety issues. Version 1.1 will be better but may be heavy. You'll eventually get to version infinity.0 and it will be perfect except for the subscription fees.
That is one of the funniest things I have read in a while’s. Thanks for the laugh.

Like to duck walk it down? Really depends on the bike. Go put a measuring tape under your motorcycle, stand over it, put your feet down, and see how much room you need.

I don't like those two fold ramps because you're either off-center or you're going up/down smooth metal in the middle.

I like at least 3 ft wide in case I need to put my feet down, but I'm also 5 ft in the air, not 5" in the air, so I take extra precaution because I've got a long way down if I don't lol

Typically though I ride all the way and don't put my feet down until I get to the door and have to hit the brakes and manhandle the bike through the doorway. I turn the bike around inside the house so I can just ride out, and with momentum going down is way easier. I ride down my ramp in flip flops because it takes 2 seconds. If you're stuck duckwalking/backing it out you'll probably want that extra space under you.
I’m way too short to duck walk my bike down. I’d have to back it down on foot.

I wish I had enough room inside to turn it around. That would be the best. I considered a few solutions but they’d all require me to have a big 8’ circle clear in the container. This thing is going to be tight as it’s basically my garage now.

I was just looking at curb ramps!

Guessing it's not possible to turn the cargo box around so that you can ride in the front door and ride straight out the back door?

Hope I didn't trigger any "oh god, now I would need TWO ramps!" anxiety with that suggestion.

Mine doesn’t have doors on each end. I’m seriously thinking about one of the Bursig or one of the clones. Then I can turn the thing around easily. Front wheel could be cranked to one side to get a little more clearance.

I was needing to buy a new paddock stand for my single swingarm but a Bursig would solve that problem too.

Even better would be an ABBA Sky lift, as I could lift the front end by several feet and not need nearly as much clearance, but those are out of my budget.

So, I’ve been thinking on and off about this but hadn’t had time to actually do anything concrete. We had a ton of damage from the ice storms and such and I’ve spent a good part of the last while cutting fallen trees and dropping other ones that need to go.

Our lake was also subject to flooding, fortunately our property was fine although the water was within 15’ or so of our main building (normally, the water line is about 100 yards or so away).

I finally got to surveying some of the property after the water receded. Lo and behold a section of someone’s dock had floated up onto our land. It’s almost perfect for a ramp- it’s almost too wide - I may actually narrow it so that I don’t need both doors open to use it.

(In case anyone is wondering - lots of stuff floats up on people’s properties on our lake after the floods and receding are done. One year a pedal boat showed up 50 yards in. We never found out where it came from; same situation here).

I’m going to have to do some modifying so that it won’t block the things that the door lock mechanisms need to grab. As it is now I need to pull that ramp off to be able to close the doors.

And today, I bought an Abba Skylift. Always wanted one, but now I hope to be able to ride the bike in, mount it on the Skylift, go full wheelie and then rotate it around so I can ride right back out!! I know I’ll need to do some reorganization in the container to create the necessary room. Once the required fittings come in I can see what needs to move where.
