broomstick handle bars

anyone has broomstick handle bars (bars that are straight like a broomstick) on their beast - (bike). I am thinking of putting on my ride but I heard that they don't handle well, are hard on the wrist and cause a lot of fatigue on long rides. let me know how yours work for you.

As long as it doesn't have a knot in it, should be fine.

Done it on small road bikes 125 and less. Used SS marine grade 7/8" rail material which is sold by the foot.

I hear that they clean up at the races when you get them laid down in the corners.

The ergonomics are surely going to be a disaster. Forcing your hands to be at an odd angle isn't going to be comfortable.

How is it any different than dirt bike handle bars or clip ons or ape hangers, etc.? I think they'd look pretty badass on the right bike:

Of course, it will take time to adjust and get used to the riding position and what not.

^ Even those bars are slightly bent. Having the bars completely straight just isn't the natural position that your hands want to be in.

And a lot of choppers/bobbers etc place style first and function far, far down the priority list. I can't help it ... but I'm the other way around.
