brine in ajax

Hope they put this off for London for awhile / road conditions permit it, I want to get as much riding in as possible before policy renewal. Anyone know what temperature is too cold for stock CBR125R tires?

technically, anything below 7C. But, at <5C, patches of black ice can form in low areas, and there is not way to get through that, which is why they salt at that temp.

Hmm? I was thinking of just wearing wool gloves under my riding gloves.

Glove liners from SportCheck for $20 help a lot. Been using them the past couple years. They're even nice to wear for driving or just going out.
They fit underneath my Velocity VR-Pro Gloves but stretched them a little bit.

The brine is pretty much on all the main roads north of Oshawa, Pickering and Ajax. Worst part is this morning when I left port Perry the roads that were shaded all stayed wet looking and hard to tell from Black Ice. (BTW it was -4 at home when I left.)

Bad news, kids. Was on the 404 just now. It's been brined to.

EDIT: Just to be clear, this is directly north of the DVP at Sheppard. Didn't check the DVP itself because lol traffic.

Ok let's discuss, why are we more fearful of salt melting our bikes into red piles of dust than we are cars?

Ever ridden on the street with a layer of sand or gravel? How bout taking turns? Maybe running over ice?

Well, in my case my bike's old. A little brine on a couple roads won't kill anything, but I generally use most of the roads being salted as my signal to stop riding.

Yes, that's all part of my daily commute. (Well the ice isn't daily but often enough in colder weather.)
