Was this directed at me?

I was trying to help you out and give you a reference since the conversation went there.

I will edit my previous post

No good deed goes......

No No no... not at all meant that way...
Apologies in earnest to you, ZX600.

Simply that some people I know are very concerned about lap times etc.
I'm more concerned about getting smooth and getting better body position at the moment. That's why the only video I am taking this year is from the tail facing forwards - so I can see if I am getting my spine in line with the bike (currently my butt is still drooping farther than shoulders).

At that GB day mentioned, it was a gong show of speeds in yellow. The Racer5 school was full, and the rules enforced for the day were very strict. People having their first day ever at the track were bumping to yellow after the first session simply to avoid the school riders.

This thread wasnt' meant to be a "my lap times are X and therefore I am faster/slower than you are".
It was simply a thread to give my impression of the tire from a low end yellow rider.

A TomC noted, opinions are subjective and posted up a link to a great set of comparisons of different tires, from what appears to be highly advanced track riders / racers. The S20 didn't rate too well for them.

For what the S20 is, I'm very happy to have a tire that can exceed my skills / pace at a modest price ($240 set in the US, where I get them shipped to a friend's place) , and still last for what will likely be a whole track season (8 or so days). The set on my GSXr will go to my street bike in spring. Lots of meat left in the middle - might as well us them till they are truly dead.

I may have come across wrong. Lap times don't mean nothing unless ur racing (and even then not really lol). If you're comparing how well tires do its nice to have a baseline of time. ie. at 1:04 the s20s stuck like glue but at 1:04 on a Rosso corsa they were slipping.

Or at 1:04 they were great but sub 60 sec times they started to break loose.

Etc etc etc ...... Lol

Make sense ?

Is it a track only bike? If so why not try bt003rs. I haven't tried the s20 but from research I've seen the bt003 as more of a track oriented tire.

Depends on how fast you are and if you need the extra grip of the BT003RS (and DOT race, slicks, etc). S20 would provide plenty enough grip up to a certain pace, and will last more trackdays than the BT003RS. That's my understanding. I've read on GTAM before people doing 1:20 at TMP on Q2 (S20 is very comparable to Q2).
BT-003RS is a street tire. BT-003 is a track tire.

The 003RS is generally reviewed as not as good as the S20. I've run both and prefer the S20.

Here is a review from a racer and suspension guy:
http://feelthetrack.com/testing-program/tire-testing/bridgestone-s20-tire-review/

I went with his recommended pressures 32/30 and they worked really well.

i ran a bt-003 on the street. it hooked up nice even when it's covered in motor oil.

I finally got to run my 003's at the track. I'm highly impressed but I'd probably try the s20 next for comparison sake. My skills probably won't notice a difference.

Just food for thought. The R10 Evo is the DOT street/track tire. The S20 is considered the sport/street tire if I have my models correct.

Are you referring to me? If so I have a street bike that I'd occasionally track so it's either s20 or bt003rs for me.

The R10 is a DOT tire. It's legal for the street.

Definitely more temperature sensitive but it is street legal.

To each their own it was more of an FYI
