"branded" reconstructed bike from Quebec

Did you even try to register it? Not saying you can, but hell give it a shot. Seeing as how you can't get a straight answer, take the papers in and see what happens.
Yeah we did. As soon as she seen the ownership she said it needed a structural safety.

Do you need the past ownership in hand when registering it?

Just try to get a safety for it. I don't know what a "Structural safety" is. So you better make sure that isn't a different kind of thing. And then take your papers to the MTO people. Usually when it's an older woman who's been there for years and years sometimes rules get bent in favour of reason.

We have a "regular" safety. A "structural" inspection, is when they check the frame after and accident. But they no longer do that. After a bike is written off, it is branded IRREPARABLE in just about every province other than QC.

I think the only thing holding us back, is the ownership that says "reconstructed". Because i bought UVIP and it says the title is CLEAN.

Would not matter if you claimed the ownership was lost, it is branded "reconstructed" in the system. We used to be able get them back with the structural inspection, but that hole was closed a couple of years ago, that is why some older people in the offices say to just do that, they are relying on what they have always known. I would imagine the computers have been programmed to not allow it to be changed to "Fit", but was also hoping they were not and by an off chance you could sneak by.

I know a guy that bought a 05 R1 from Ohio or PA, it was titled as being clean (or whatever word they use), he got by RIV initial parts, was completely up to date on all fees and paper work, just waiting for the letter from RIV that he needs for federal inspection, but got a call instead. His clean titled bike was actually a scrap bike from Rhoad Island. Seems the bike was moved from state to state until it became unbranded. He now has a bike that cannot be put on the road here. He ended up having to buy a frame and ownership that was clean and changed the frame on his bike.

Personally I do not think that should even be allowed, but, crooks broke the law in the first place, they are not going all of a sudden get a case of morals and not buy a clean VIN to sell that stolen bike just because it is against the law. It is a perfect way to clean up a stolen bike though.

Someone told me I could have a Quebec address and just put a Quebec plate and insurance and keep riding the bike in Ontario, do you guys
know if it's possible or legal?

Might be possible but defiantly not legal!
