So I bought a used BMW 2002 K1200lt. I can do a lot of the maintenance myself but I'm looking at some shop recommendations on some of the bigger things. So who do you use?

Cheers,

Most people I know with BMW's in the GTA use Budds BMW in Oakville, DSP in Stoney Creek (independent) or Wolf BMW in London.

I have never dealt with any of the shops in the GTA, but do go to Wolf BMW, they have been excellent. I would also highly recommend Dual Sport Plus. Never had service done there outside of tires and brakes, but they are in my opinion the best shop around. They stand behind their work, honest, have integrity and are all riders who are very enthusiastic and knowledgable.

+1 for Budd's I've been there once and they've been great for the big services. I use Z1cycletech (they're like 5 mins from my work and they have also been great to deal with) for oil changes and tire swaps when I cant' make it out to Budd's. Budd's is also pretty busy so you have to book in advance.

With a bike of this age, I would stay away from most BMW stores. Z1 are great, but there is a retired BMW tech (Durham area) that is great with older BMW models. I will try to get his name/ contact, but I hear he is very good. (older BMWs)

Yep for sure.. Budds for the service guys.

Also, pro 6 cycle in Etobicoke are great to deal with BMW bike's

If you are looking for proper dealer, Budd's is the place to go. No BS service and they know what they are doing and talking about.

Wolf is ok too, but too far.

As to the BMW dealer question, Budds seems to be the place to go, I know the previous owner went there and loved it. Just looking for good independent shops. Thanks everyone and keep it up. I like to drive down Niagara way so I'll stop by DPS.

If i bought something slightly unusual i'd honestly be tempted to take it to platinum power sports all the way out past grand bend. Say what you want about the guys sarcasm, i've seen him work on a lot of bikes and have always been incredibly impressed with his wrenching skills.

Not to be funny..but there isnt much you can't do on the bike yourself. Only hard maintenance on mine is the intagrated ABS but I think they replaced it on newer models. Everything else is cake.

If its the fellow that I'm thinking of, Al Blanchard, he only works on airheads, nothing newer.

I stumbled on his shop while wandering. Beautiful stuff and he seemed like a great guy. His shop is like an airhead museum, there were probably 10 bikes there, 3 or 4 with side cars. His knees keep wearing through the paint on his personal bike (iirc he had more than 100,000 km on it a decade ago).
