My family was asking what I wanted for Father's Day and I was thinking that it would be great to have the Bluetooth communication device to listen to music, etc. I know that the distraction of taking a call is not the best but I build multi-million dollar construction projects and sometimes missing a call can be a real problem. I know about the Sena and Scala products, but it makes sense to me to have a helmet with Bluetooth already in it. I checked around and found surprisingly little options available. i just wanted to see what people on here are using. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Nolan and Schuberth both offer integrated Bluetooth options for their helmets but I haven't ever seen them locally to try on. HJC also has at least one model that offers integrated Bluetooth.

I'm interested to see how the reviews for the new Sena 3S pan out. It is not helmet-specific, but it has everything packaged within the earpieces, so nothing is visible on the outside of your helmet. Most other Bluetooth modules clip on the side of the helmet and protrude downwards a bit, and I find that they catch on my collar/shoulder when I do shoulder checks in traffic. I like the idea of the 3S since it shouldn't have that problem.
 
There's not too many helmets with built in bluetooth so that means if you don't have the right head shape for those then you're out of luck and fit is probably the single most important issue with a helmet. I have had a Cardo unit and also now have a Sena 20S clip on unit on three different helmets and they have all been fine. Adding a bluetooth unit to a helmet is simple and the most difficult thing that needs doing is getting the speaker placement correct. I have had some shoulder check issues but that was more to do with with bits of clothing not fastened properly (neck straps).
 
I have a Schuberth c3 pro with their SRC system. This allows me to listen to music while I ride streaming from my Zumo 660 GPS, as well as get turn by turn voice navigation, answer phone or listen to FM radio if I wanted to. I like this setup best because it is all integrated into the helmet, no pieces you clip onto the side of the helmet. Call quality is ok from what I have been told, I rarely use it for that, primarily for music and navigation when on a trip. It definitely gets loud enough when riding on my GSA, but I have pretty good wind coverage, so the sound quality will probably vary depending on what you ride.

It is not a cheap option that is for sure. Helmet alone is in the $800 - $900 range if I remember correctly, and $400 or so for the SRC system.
 
Using a 20S now, but the SMH10 from Sena is hands down the best one overall. Sena have packaged that one into different models now - low profile etc. Cardo is bringin out the packtalk soon. The SMH10 is the best bet overall in my opinion.
 
I use sena 10R and love it but have a plan to migrate on Schuberth c3pro and put sena on my wifes helmet. I know sena can communicate with bt HFP device but I dont know if it is possible with Schuberth. I think Schuberth use cardo hardware.

Sena actually has a product coming out that you can use with the C3 Pro, it is integrated into the helmet so nothing sticks out on the side. I do not think it is out yet in N. America. Definitely looks interesting. It is being made to fit a few different helmets as well, Shoei GT Air, Shoei Neotec, and Schuberth C3 Pro. Not sure if they will release it for more models later on. Might be cheaper to add to a C3 Pro then their own product.

I also have the Sena 10R. Great gizmo. I mostly use it to ask Siri what time it is and to get turn-by-turn directions from Waze. I find listening to music too distracting. Intercom works great.
 
Thanks everyone for their input. I'll get the Sena for now and wait for a different helmet solution. I'm hoping that there will be a broader product offering in the near future.
