bike engine cranks but won't start

it's my first time owning a bike and starting it at the end of winter.

When I tried to start it, the engine cranks, but it won't start.
What could be the issue?

I don't want to try it too many times (i might damage something?)

it is klx-250s (not fuel injection).

battery seem to be at ok level. (but i am not sure.) headlights are on.
could it be my battery charge level is too low?

If it cranks good/quick it's probably not the battery. If it's been sitting all winter it'd be a good idea to charge it up.

Check the kill switch and see if it's functioning properly. Is there a fuel shut off?

My bet is on bad/old fuel.

Good luck.

ok, i think it was the battery level.
it wasn't cranking that quick actually.

i did a quick 15 min charge and the realize it cranks faster than before.
A few more tries after that, the bike started!

I will also update my other thread about the kick stand switch breaking (separate issue)

thanks

i did find some rust forming on the foot pegs and the shifter.

chain also is forming some rust color, not sure if it's just the grease sticking to some particles.

anything i can do about them now??

get some kerosene and clean the chain, if the rust is superficial it will come right off. Relube after of course.

you're fine. Do the standard maintenance before you ride - tires for air and flatspots/wear....oil check for level and cleanliness...chain cleaned and relubed.

Your bike isn't a piece of paper. it's not delicate.

lol. I often get asked by new riders "You can ride in the rain??? Won't it get wet??"

:D

Thats normal behaviour for a KLX250. I sold mine because I was tired if wearing the battery down trying to get it I start. If you don't believe me, check KLX 250 forums. There is no way a new bike should be sold like that.

Mine was under warranty, went back to the dealer many items, I got tired of it and sold it. Jetting kit won't help starting, but it will run much better when it is running.
