Best Price & service for tire change in GTA????

So I need to replace my tires
I called snow city cycle in G to inquire about the price if i bring in my tires. They said $49/tire.
I get my bike in after few days, when I went to pick up my bike yesterday they gave me bill of $175
I asked her I was told 49/tire, she started giving me BS about how this is the best price when you bring in your own tires
I called Kahuna Power sports, and they said $45/tire even if you bring in your own tires.

So, My Q is did I get ripped of or this is the standard price everywhere ( kind of ridiculous) for tire change

I plan to call manager today to see if she believes in customer service and if she would do anything
 
I usually buy my tires from Dave(Competition Cycle/Recidivist), this time I got a great deal on a set of Dunlop Q2's elsewhere and he quoted me $100 for install when I bring the bike in.
I think you paid too much.

I was under the impression that I ll be paying about $100 too till she handed me the bill for $175. not to mention very ignorant service desk people. Did not even acknowledge me for 10 mins when i went there. Unless the manager does anything to fix this DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE GO TO SNOW CITY CYCLE.
 
changing a tire is actually quite easy. All you need is a bead breaker (I bought one for $90, I change a ton of tires, but you could also use a 2x4 or C clamps if you want), spoons are $20-$30, a box of wheel weights, and you can make a tire balancer for about $10 from a 2x4 and some bearings from princess auto. Accurate to about 1/16 of an oz.

Little bit of practise and swearing the first time, but you get really good at it fairly fast. Youtube will show you how its done. The key is using the spoons in the right order.
 
thanks guys. i talked to the manager and she gave me gift card of $44 which is still not cash and she started mentioning how her service staff usually gives 2 prices and this is not something they usually do. I only got 1 price when i asked her for quote with my tires. Also, she mention that this is something that they choose to do for customers that buy parts from them (BS). I advice her of keeping her staff up to date with competition prices but dont think she got that. aah well soon or later they will figure it out, but will have to go back to spend that $44 or if someone wants to buy that off me.
 
Dont trust myself with doing my own tires so I'm happy to pay to get it done right. That being said, 1 hour of labour (30 minutes per wheel) at whatever the shop rate is. Any more than that and you're getting fleeced. Different shops have different rates so call around.
 
For what it's worth, I buy all my OEM parts from Snow City, no complaints.
The guys there are very helpful and extremely friendly.
 
I've always liked dealing with Snow City, the staff there are great, but I would agree that you paid too much (even with that $44 gift-card) for the tire installation. Most places charge around $90/hr for labour, you paid almost twice that for a job that can't have taken more than 45-60 minutes tops -- and realistically probably less than that. The whole "cheaper if bought from us" ideal of charging extra otherwise is ******** and a bad way to do business, but a lot of places do it that way just to make extra money if they won't be making it from a tire/parts sale.

Personally, I take my bikes to Jason & Steve at 22Customs for anything I need done. Very fast and friendly, and most of the time you can watch them work on the bike as you wait. I've had tire changes, fluid changes, alarm/other electronic installs and lots of other stuff done there and they've always done a great job at very reasonble rates. Just call ahead to make sure they've got some free time, as a lot of their business is walk-in.

ZERO scratches, walked me through the process..****ing great place! go there for car and bike now and have sent friends...everyone very happy

Zdeno in kitchener 30 on bike 20 just rim. Changed and balanced
 
Funny......zedenos quoted me 60 a tire if I brought my rims and tires in. Unless of coarse I bought my tires from them. Then it was 20 a tire.
 
45/tire off rim is just pure robbery
a reasonable price off the rim is 20/rim, most venders at track will install/balance for free off the rim if you buy tires from them.
 
$40.00 (wheel off the bike) at Cycle World Superstore, and they did it in 15 mins while I waited, no scratches and the mechanic even had the courtesy to ask what pressure I wanted.
 
$15/wheel from mikeymoto.
$30/wheel on the bike.

He doesn't sell tires so your good to go.

Only bad thing is he works full time so you would have to do it around his schedule.

I would disagree. I've had about half dozen tire changes there (just came from one 30 min ago, soaking wet) and nothing but good/cheap service.

Yes Ted has severe ADD, and yes there will be profanity and other non PG obscenities, but it will be done for $70 both wheels on the bike.

In fact now I just ship my tires there straight from Pete's....
 
I used to do my own but considering I was only doing it once or twice a year my skills weren't exactly sharp. Lots of sweating and cursing and potential for damaging the rim. I decided paying $20 or so a wheel was money well spent to avoid the aggravation. Competition Cycle does mine for about that price.

I've been quoted up to $90 per tire, wheel off bike, by some shops and as little as $15 (maybe it was $20, I forget. EDIT) or so from Rosey Toes who did a reasonable job for me.
