Bell Helmet

what helmet are you using it on?
I've got the vortex, and while it's better than an HJC by light years, it was $120 so I don't ask much out of it. frankly for a low end helmet I find it's better than the rf-1000. we have both.
if you've got the vortex I'd suggest thinking about the RS-1 or the Star. I think I'll move up to the RS-1 to avoid the bubble head and it's only 320...

the tinted visor works on those bell helmets as well.

I got the Vortex. I'm coming from a Suomy Vandal, lol, so that might be a shock.

I can't expect too much tho, because I paid ~$100 for it. My visor costs as much as the helmet.

The tint takes a while to respond from Being tinted--->non tinted.
Going from non tinted --->tinted is pretty fast. About 30secs.

Overall, I'm happy.

I bought this helmet for my long trip, since I do not have to carry a spare visor. But my Suomy is much more comfortable, light and less noisy. I don't want to bang it up on my trip tho.

I'm torn...

well... I'll get the RS-1 or star in a month or 2 and then I'll let you know how it compares to the vortex as far as noise goes or general differences. Not sure if that helps. might be too late. comfort is dependent on head shape though so I'm not sure if my opinion will matter. I find the vortex really comfy already, fits me well, that's why I got it. and the tint of course.
noticed that about the going back to clear, but I'm not sure besides driving through a tunnel when it would be important for that aspect to be faster. I generally find I want it going from clear to dark faster as it's when I'm walking outside to the bike.

funny thing about the tint; bugs. when they hit, sit for a bit and then you wipe them off, it leaves a bright spot as it untints. 1st time it happened I was worried the bug goo had eaten off the tint layer... LOL.

Nothing wrong with the tint taking a while to change back to clear, I'm just telling it as it is. I hardly go thru tunnels, except Thorold tunnel :D.

If I review something, I gotta put out the +ve's and the -ve's, u know what I mean?? :D

But as I said, I am overall happy with the money I paid for it. Its a good bang for the buck.

depends on what hjc, my rps 10 is awsome and I'm coming from an arai, brow vent isn't as good but for 350$ I'd say it's one of the best on the market in that range and I tried on every lid gp had that was snell 2010

Old thread... I picked up a transitions shield today from GPB for $100 (discounted because I bought the helmet from them). Works great, I love it! I do wish it were a tad darker but no biggie. Optics look good, no discernible distortion. The view from inside has a "rosier" tint when darkened than the smoked shield I have on my hjc.

Only down side is that I'm more cautious with it as I have a tendancy to scratch these things.

Mine is not entirely clear at night. There is an ever so slight tint. That isn't a problem tho.

It still serves me well.

The optics for mines wasn't 100%. There's a bit of distortion.

But in short, it still beats changing visor everytime I have a night shift
