More expensive doesn't always mean better. I use the Shinko 777 tires that I've been running on my VTX since I got it. Best damned motorcycle tires I've ever used and they're lasting twice the mileage some of my riding buddies are getting out of their much more expensive rubber. A few of them have since switched to the Shinko's themselves and are also loving them.
But because they're cheap....a lot of people just automatically assume that they're junk.
