Bad Gas?

My bike says right on the tank "minimum 95 octane" so I only use Shell V power due to the non ethanol content as posted only on Shell 91, then I use octane boost. Ultra 94 with ethanol is not a true 94 octane. Gone are the days of Sunoco Gold 94 that had no ethanol.

Your 2 stroke may be a different animal.

I had what I suspect was a bad batch of fuel coming back from the states last year. I found the engine pausing/lagging at a constant rpm. Filled up when it had been raining for some time, so I suspect it was water. The bad thing is that your bike might run fine with the new fuel, but the problem could come back again because your fuel filter could be done. If you notice the bike acting up again, try putting in some seafoam, if it still is acting funny then replace the fuel filter.

I mostly use shell v power but on sunday I decided to use petro94 since the riding group I went with stopped a petro. Soon after f1 light turned on and I felt a loss of back pressure. Rode all day and filled up with v power afterwards and seems back to normal.

You don't need more than 87 Octance in your 600.
My 750 on the other hand is a min of 90, so I use V Power.

Octane boosters are garbage and if you read up on it they generally only add 0.1 octane rating to a full tank of gas (in a car). The 95 RON posted on your gas tank is equal to 90-91 octane AKI which if you read my post a few up is what we use here in North America.

@2live&ride just checked the manual you are right but why only in Canada is 87 acceptable?

Didn't anybody read my post on the last page??? We use a different octane rating in North America than the rest of the world!

91 in Europe, Asia and most of South America is the EXACT SAME as our 87 here!

Also why does my dads 2009 pathfinder say on the gas cap door "premium fuel recommend for highest performance"?

Yes, generally if it says "recommended" you'll be just fine with regular, if premium is required it will say required, or will say what my Mazda says on the inside of the fuel filler door, "MINIMUM 91 octane AKI".

Serious answer please so I can explain to him.

If your vehicle is advanced enough to have variable spark timing you MAY get the benefit of 1-2 hp on naturally aspirated vehicles using premium over regular with the added spark timing advancement.

Also, when I had my '94 Probe GT (the model with the V6) it said in the manual 91 AKI recommended, but 87 AKI was fine to use. I used 87 for a while then tried two full tanks of 91 and there was absolutely 0 discernible difference in power at all so I went back to 87 and continued saving money on fuel.
