Armored Shorts... Anyone using them under their gear? Recommendations?

I suppose above is better than nothing, but doubt it would offer any serious protection from road rash (for comparison padding on the Dainese is closer together and layered w/ abrasive-resistant plastic)...

You are correct. The Pro Combat's, however, are meant to be worn with already armoured pants. It's just an extra piece of comfort.

I got Forcefield action pro shorts:

Got them from Blustreakracing, but I only use them for boarding. Wouldn't want my bum-bum to look fat while riding. lol :laughing2:
Comfy, and the pads can be taken out, so you can wash them.

Those look perfect for those with sportsbikes with minimal to no padding on the seat. :)

The Forcefield stuff looks to be well made and offer a lot of protection. Hopefully I will see some of their stuff sometime.

These look exactly like what I want. I wish they were a bit cheaper but if I don't find anything comparable for less by winter, I'm getting them.
Its the summer, I'm sure if you look around, you can find them for a steal of a deal, alot of winter websites are constantly having sales trying to get rid of old stock. GL

Got my Icon Shorts today. Went to Two Wheel with my buddy who picked up his new Ninja 300. Old and new riding together...

To get back on topic... Now I am using the full series of Icon Armour:

The Icon Shorts are just there. Breathe well and fit under my jeans and you do not know they are there. Yet there is hip armour, plus 3DO armour, plus the Aramid fibre along the sides.

As you can see the 3D0 CE rated stuff is on the outside. The inside armour is a larger piece of foam which is probably comparable to what you find in coats, pants etc that are not CE rated.

I think these are a very worthwhile addition to one's riding gear. Zero drawback to wearing them. Just slide them up over your underwear or briefs and wear them under your pants. I plan on getting another pair of armoured shorts because I commute a lot with my bike. Might try the Forcefield or Klim ones next to have a basis of comparison.

Just the same I can recommend these Icon shorts for anyone who wants to beef up / improve their protection in the hip area. The Araramid side sections could be the difference between you getting road rash or not if your jeans or kevlar lined jeans wore through.
