Anyone Worn One of These?

Trying to figure out if they're worth it for those hot summer months. Pros / cons?

My son swears by his. I think they are a decent approach.
Considering a light version of that for australia dual sport as the knee guards worked well and I barely feel them on.

Get one with a solid plate up front instead of one that is split like that. It will disperse impact better. Thor makes a pretty good one.

Watch out for them tan lines dude...

I don't see how wearing something like that would flow more air than a perf jacket, but maybe that's just me.

I think one big con is looking like a twat.

Throw a black jersey over it and you're set. Flows air really nice, you don't look like a ******, and cleaning off those bugs you hit at hwy speeds is as easy as throwing it in the washer

I have the Scott version that I wear under a MX jersey for off road...

It's made to go thump vs. slide along the ground.

I'd rather wear leather on the road personally....

I was debating on getting one of these for hot commute days but...

Are they even useful in a crash or are they strictly MX gear? I know the vest by itself is near useless.

I would assume that the usefulness goes down the faster you crash. As others have said, designed for impact rather than sliding down.

As the others have said...that armour isn't meant to slide and a thin covering over it isn't going to help. First thing that armour catches on is going to rip it off or whatever it's attached to off.

I've got a perforated leather jacket that works great and for really hot days I have a mesh textile jacket too. Both much better than the battle armour shown here.

Sweating takes a lot of the fun out of SS riding. Agree with the jersey over it. Lol to the tan lines. On the street if you're going down, you're in for impact more than sliding. And a much harder impact than track. So I'm thinking this kind of gear might be alright.

Unfortunately you have no idea how you're gonna crash on the street.

Not tough at all. Icon field armor is only level 1 back protector. I suppose the armor suit in the picture is Dainese. Dainese is level 2.

No one said that jersey will help anything, it will just make you look less like a doofus and will be easy to wash

Noticed a few vendors clearing them out, US vendors where it's hotter than here. The look must be the downfall as the concept seems good.
