Hello,

I'm looking to get my first bike this weekend. :) It's a 09' Ninja 250. Just wondering if anyone is willing to help me out. I have no clue about motorcycles and the extent of my mechanical knowledge was when I used to be an avid Nissan 240sx/Skyline enthusiast for a few years. I was shown the ropes by fellow enthusiasts through the years, that's about it. I've already taken a look at this bike last weekend and told the owner I'd sleep on it and make an offer. I searched the forums for "Used 250r buyers guide" and applied what I've read to the best of my ability. However, I'd feel more comfortable if somewhat that knows what they're looking could help.

All the proper preparations are done; booked my RTI for late April, plan to go for my M1 in a few weeks, and have quoted insurance. ($800/year) YEAH! I even bought a helmet at the motorcycle show earlier this month in Mississauga.

Having said all that, If anyone is interested in helping me out please let me know as I plan to head out saturday afternoon. The bike is in the Newmarket/Aurora Area. I'm from east Scarborough/Pickering area. So it's about a 30 min drive to Newmarket. I'd be more that happy to treat you to a trip to the beer store or pizza, etc. That's how we usually repaid others for their help on the 240 forums, don't know if the same applies here, :/ LOL.

Also, in regards to getting it home if all goes well, I'm contemplating two options. Renting a motorcycle trailer for $14.95 for the day or seeking The Toy Haulers' services. http://www.thetoyhauler.ca/index.htm. Which would you guys suggest?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe u can use toyhauler & ask him to look over the bike for u?

Check for things like seals in the engine, any leakage? Ask for receipts if possible of oil changes. I normally do a log of all my oil change so that i know when the next oil change is.

Also have the owner ride the bike around the block, make him at least shift thru 3 gears

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking the same but thought they may just clear it so they'd get the business of taking it home for me. At the same time the company seems reputable enough to point out anything I should know. I wish we could get it around the block but it looks as if the snow is sticking around this time. Thanks again.

I know you're excited to purchase your 1st bike but there're plenty of 250's out there so no need to purchase the bike in a rush. Just my 2c

Em 5ive, I track with Chris with ToyHauler, he knows his ****.

Sounds like you do your homework, on the Skyline as well as on the bike. Look around this site and make yourself comfortable with him.

IMO, you're also looking for peace of mind, especially with your first bike as well as transportation for the bike. Cross off both and get him to come out and give you his 2cents and bring it home for you.

Good luck either way you decide.

Thanks again guys. Yeah I'm excited but definitely in no rush. I've been looking since September and would prefer to buy one in the summer as it would be stuck in the garage anyways until then. However I think I may have found a good one. Less then 10,000kms and priced at about 2500. We''ll see if I decide to go ahead with it.

Prices increase as the temp gets warmer
