Anyone got a CBR 500?

Hi everyone!

I'm looking at getting a bigger bike for next year. Currently I've got a little 250 ninja. Great bike but it isn't the best on the highway to get out of trouble if needed.

I was wondering if anyone of the forums has had a chance to test ride one or owns one. I'm looking at the CBR 500R.

Seems like a decent bike and the insurance is rather cheap.

Thanks in advance for any input you can provide!

Since the winter has decided it wants to stick around in Canada I don't have a chance to test ride one and was curious of any issues that you may have run into. The salesman at the store was like any other salesman and telling me it was bullet proof and nothing will every go wrong and this is the best bike on the market...

Looking to get another review of someone who has owned one.

No problem, here are some thoughts from the top of my head:

The bike is very comfortable. Great ergos but with a sporty appearance. Handles like a lightweight but solid and heavy enough to tackle the highways. Torque is good, too, except in 1st gear. 1st gear is whimpy and useless and I found myself changing gears before I would even leave an intersection from a left turn from full stop. Brakes solid. Smooth power delivery, and surprisingly quick off the line. Cornering isn't the tightest, suspension is soft and squishy. Had no mechanical issues during the time period I had it. Didn't come from a 250cc, this was my first bike. I thought it was a great bike, it just left me wanting a little more, and I upgraded to a 600 with no regrets.

Hope that helps.
