Was wondering if they take any money off sticker price like they do on cars, my guess is not much but never owned a brand new bike, lot of new cars only.

Thanks

I usually buy off the first owner but kind of nice to have new for a change... also what is hot in cruiser bikes medium power.

Yep. If they won't, walk.

Yamaha Bolt=hot cruiser bike medium power.

looked at one review fairly close to a Sportster, but will check them out.

If you mean way better than Sportster that's close enough. My Buell has a Sportster engine. If it had a Bolt engine it would be a better bike. Chain primary drive is so yesterday.

I have only ever purchased one bike, but this was my experience and observation.

It depends on the bike/brand, and the dealership. Some bikes (makes/models) never seem to go on sale, and it'd be tough negotiating.

I couldn't get a Harley dealership to budge on an Iron 883, and I get the impression they don't negotiate. The price is what it is, take it or leave it.

Other exotics that have high demand, you need to pay premium and get on waiting lists, like the BMW HP4.

However, the cheaper mass produced bikes, you can definitely score some really good deals. I bought my Ninja 300 (bizarre than an Iron 883 and Ninja 300 were both in the running?!) for cheaper then any resales. But I bought a 2013 new, from a dealership in 2014. It was the last 2013 and they wanted it gone.

(if anyone disagrees with my post - trust them. I'm really clueless and shouldn't be giving advise to anyone!) :)

When it comes to what is hot with cruisers it's tough to pin down.

I would suggest Victory eight ball. Honda
Fury. Yamaha Stryker.

Harley sportster line should have an appealing flavour.

As for getting the best deal new? It all comes down to patience and timing. When the season is booming and demand high, dealers aren't going to budge much. Then again when business is slow, selection is limited too. They can offer free storage and a few bucks off sticker. Maybe throw in some accessories etc.

But the key really is not to be in a rush. Stop in, look around. Get some quotes and ideas of what is out there and what price point and then establish what you feel is the strike point to make a deal.

I rather let someone buy new, pay for upgrades and then when they want something different, you can pick up a near new machine with tons of stuff for a great price. Especially in the fall and if you have the storage.

HD dealers do negotiate, you just have to shop around. I had 3.5k trimmed off MSRP on my Sportster from a dealer 70km away when my local HD dealer wouldn't budge and all it took was a few emails. It was in early July, so hardly end of season. I know a few others who had the same success on the larger bikes.

Yes, this can happen too. There are a few factors. It really depends how business is doing. How much inventory and if it's moving or not. If it's peak season and foot traffic in a given dealer is low? You might find they are more cooperative or maybe they aren't which explains why they don't have much foot traffic?

Some dealers have a great rep while others not so much.

In regards to Harley Davison working with you, I've found
Rocky's and Kitchener really good while,
Claire's was terrible. And I frequent them enough to get a decent picture if it's just a one off or how they run their business.

All are less likely to budge off msrp with fresh inventory of hot models. But they are fighting hard to distance themselves from they days when they priced above msrp and were smug about it. A lot of folks just walked or didn't bother. Seems like they are trying to shed that rep by working harder on customer experience.
