any HP2 Sport owners?

It looks great! Certainly has the goods.

But after riding one to try, I'd never want to own it.

Boxer schmoxer..... Give me the S1000RR and I'll gladly pocket the savings.

It's obviously no comparison to the current flagship, but it's not supposed to be. Why wouldn't you ever want to own one? Price aside....

I went in with high expectations, and left disappointed.

It was extremely vibey, and relatively speaking, gutless. The dash looked outdated. I felt like I was riding a bike from the 80s.

Honestly, I really couldn't wait to get off it. I was seriously unimpressed.

It LOOKS amazing though.

Relatively gutless with 120+ rwhp and 80+ ft-lbs of torque?

Did you just step out of an F/A-18 before riding it?

Surprising.

I have tried it (a K13) and I'd never compare an HP2 Sport to it because those are entirely different ballparks.

Your comment about it being gutless has me curious to try it myself. I'm wondering if maybe you were expecting something totally different to what a big boxer twin is expected to deliver. Was the power delivery fat in the midrange? Peaky? Ran out of steam quick?

Take one for a boot and form your own opinion.

My biggest beef was the vibration. Its a natural characteristic on boxers, and especially evident on this bike through the clip ons, which made it my biggest annoyance and turn off.

Try a R1200S if you want to test a sporty boxer experience as you'll likely find these easier and more willing to be lent out than an HP2.

And hey! you might love it..... I can just tell you that I'd take a S1000RR or K1300S any day of the week.

I'm more into do-it-all bikes, so the K would get the overall nod.

I think gutless is an inaccurate description to be fair. The old Boxer engines don’t exactly spin up quickly so don’t give the feel or impression of urgency in its delivery.

I have not ridden the HP2 but I do love the bike. The quality of build is exceptional. This is one of those bikes that will gain in value with age.

I have ridden an R1200R and I did not like the engine at all. Keep in mind that I've ridden inline 4's and inline 6's for thirty years with only the occasional ride on a twin. The power delivery is VERY different. I could not get used to the idea that peak power is delivered midrange. I was always trying to bring it to redline to get max power but it faded as the revs crested. So, I can understand why Sunny would find the HP2 gutless. If it were me, I'd probably perceive the same thing but I think it has more to do with the nature of the boxer twin then a lack of usable power. I suspect you need to know how to get the best performance out of that engine. I don't know how. The inline multi's are far more predictable and intuitive for me to use effectively.

Never ridden it but I absolutely love the look. It makes the S1RR look so generic in comparison. Maybe I'll give it a try at next summer's BMW festival.
