I've been running Norton 360 for a number of years and McAfee before that.
Like anything good, it usually gets inproved to worse. Any thoughts?

Same.I have just used the built in one in windows (Microsoft security essentials).
Same here, Defender works for me and doesn't interfere with some finicky software I use from time to time. I built a VM a few years back to run an XP program on a W 8.1 laptop. The whole process was kinda unsuccessful and made me want to go live in a grass hut in a hot place.Same.
Should be more than enough.
If you want to visit dodgy website then just use a virtual machine...easy to rebuild from snapshot if it gets nuked and chances for malware to break out of the VM are little to none.
