ok i need to learn how a remote car starter works so i can rig a 12 volt thermostat in to activate the remote starter when the ac switch in series is left armed. if anyone tries to mess with the car touching the brake to shift the remote starter should kill the car.

Way too complicated. A lady got charged today for leaving her kids for 15 minutes in the vehicle with the ac blasting (3 moths old and 9 years old). The cops said the car could have stalled and the kids would then get hurt. :/.

I am not condoning leaving live things in the car, but pressing charges on the possibility that the car could stall is nuts. When was the last time anyone saw an idling vehicle stall.

Is it a good idea to leave a 9 yr. old supervised by a 3 month old in a running car for 15 minutes? What if a stranger knocks on the window offering ice cream sandwich? Then once inside the ice cream wielding stranger could pull a ruse like saying "hey look over there!" causing the nine yr. old to snap his head to another direction allowing the ice cream man to do something untoward. You never know.

Or just steal the car. Isn't there a 3 minute idle rule for those thinking about keeping the car running?

And I also don't see why someone wouldn't leave the dog home while you're shopping.
Take the dog for a walk before you go or after you get back, or like do we did, and get an indoor cat instead.
If you don't have the time for a dog, don't get one. Same for a child. It's not like they're not preventable.

Depends on the kid. My son at 9, 100%, my daughter, probably not so much.

We left our 11 year old son in the truck with all the windows down while we went into Home Depot on Sunday. We had just bought a new AC and didn't want anyone to steal it, lol. If he isn't smart enough to come inside if he feels himself getting too hot, then he is pretty dumb.

I would NEVER leave a kid n a running car. That's just asking for trouble.

Thats an impossible scenario, at 40 degrees there no way he could be holding ice cream.

Also, I don't think it would be necessary to distract a 9 year old if someone had bad intentions. I wouldn't leave cash in plain sight in a car let alone a child.
