Am I buying a stolen motorcycle??

Hi everyone, I hope someone can help me. I'm thinking of buying a used motorcycle. I went to inspect.... Looks great, sounds great, bike is clean, low KM (2500 km on a 2010 R6) Price is cheap (7500 CDN) But the guy DOES NOT have UVIP or safety. He is under house arrest and says he can't get UVIP becaue he can;t leave property..... He showed me his ownership and I got the VIN number (VIN matches on bike and ownership.)

Is there a website that I can check the VIN? Seems like many websites to check U.S. vin numbers but none for Canadian VINs.....

How should I proceed? I really like the bikes looks, it's full of mods, but I don;t know if it's stolen or has it been in accident. The frame sliders look like they were JUST put on before I came to see the bike.

Is UVIP required by law from seller?
Or can the buyer just change ownership without it?

For $20 you can go get the UVIP and see what's up, all you need is VIN. I'd advise it.

Take the vin number into any Service Ontario place and they'll print you out a UVIP, done. You just want to make sure it has no lien on it (the UVIP will say that).

tell him $6k

dude cant leave home...no job...will need $$$ cost you nothing to ask...lol

LOL!! You guys are the best!! Yeah..I was debating on pwer commander or ECU flash....I guess I save space, weight, and $$$ if I just did the flash....anyone have negative experience with ECU flash?? Do I need the guys ownership to get UVIP? Just VIN number is all I need??

All you need is the VIN# and $20, that's it.

ECU flash is WAY better than a power commander, it controls the ignition timing, all 8 fuel injectors, removes the factory throttle restrictions (the 2010 is super horrible, it should just come with training wheels from the factory! lol) and the emission restrictions and I can flash in a fuel map at any time, in case you get tired of the super quiet hiss of the stock exhaust at some point in the future ;)

I've flashed 71 bikes and the only complaint so far is that on some bikes it idles a little higher than stock.

Does ECU flash make bike run more fuel? My km per litre will go down signifficantly?
Your future bike has an O2 sensor. From the factory, it's set up to use the O2 sensor to create a very lean mixture while cruising, under 30% throttle and under 9000 RPM. If we leave the O2 sensor enabled and you drive under 30% throttle and shift before 9000RPM your fuel economy will not change with the ECU flash. We can even adjust the O2 sensor bias to get you slightly better fuel economy as well (while cruising).

But, if you're twisting the throttle lots and spanking her you can expect to use more fuel, as now you won't be limited to 60% throttle like it was from the factory. After the flash, as much as you twist it is as much throttle as she'll give you. It makes a huge difference below 7000rpm, where these bikes suck donkey balls.

If we disable the O2 sensor (there are many reasons to do it, some of which are: makes the bike run way cooler while cruising and at idle too, removes the slight lag in throttle response when going from off throttle to on throttle or from 30% to 31% throttle, allows you to tune the under 30% throttle under 9000rpm area in the fuel table, gets rid of all of the popping and backfire on deceleration by preventing the injectors from shutting off, your future exhaust might not have a spot for the O2 sensor, etc.), then you can expect that your highway fuel economy would be worse (say 190km before the fuel light vs. 200-205 before).

Disabling the O2 sensor puts the bike in "performance" mode 24/7 :)

seems legit

hahahahahah

just see if vin being tempered,u know where this guy house is,so i don't see a problem

Ya no worries, its not like the cops will seize the stolen bike from you incase you bought it, and you wont see a penny of your money. Plus whats a charge of possession of stolen property anyways? Probably just get house arrest anyways lol

So if can't leave the house to get a UVIP, how will he ever take the cheque to the bank? What's that you say, a friend can go to the bank for him? Perhaps the same friend can also get a UVIP….no?

Personally if I get a bad feeling about something like this, I stay away. But that's just me. It might be legit, might not. I suppose like everyone says, cost you $20 to find out for yourself. But I'm betting a different name is on the on the UVIP as the current owner and he has a really good explanation for that.

Use the force luke...

I'll bet the $20 there is a Lien, and the seller doesn't want you to know until you have already paid him and are standing at the counter trying to register it.
