Alternative to Shoei RF-1000 and TZ-R, fit/ sizing question

Hi have anyone of you used the Shoei RF-1000 and TZ-R in Medium, what do you ride now with the same great fit of these two helmets? Anyone of you get a lower end helmet and were happy with it?

Haven't had a chance to look around for a helmet, some great input would be greatly appreciated!

Not quite the same but I used to have an rf1000. I now have an rf1100 and x12 and they're still the same size. I love the x 12 way more for what that's worth

I have a shoei Quest but almost bought the RF1000 just the other day my brother came in with a new HJC CL-17 and for me it fit almost exactly the same for 1/2 the price. if i was buying again i would have bought the HJC

You're better off going to a moto store and actually trying on a few different brands and models to see what fits you best.

Call me crazy, but I could never find $300 in extra value in the X12. What feature(s) make the X12 so much better for you?

If you like the RF1000 why not get an RF1100?
As much as lower end brands have improved they are still a far cry from being a Shoei/Arai (from a durability, quality stand point).

Speedworx Superbike Service in Markham (www.speedworxsuperbike.com) will be having a huge sale this Saturday on all their in stock Five gloves, Shoei Helmets (solid RF1100), braking rotors, masters, Ohlins, Motul, Yoshimura exhausts, Bazzaz, etc.. Plus there will be coupons for their spring service!

The RF1100s are only $260!
The Qwests are only $199! (Just one small solid black in stock)

In all honesty, there is probably not much difference between the X-12 and the current RF-1200 in terms of features, maybe a little lighter, maybe a bit more 'breathable'. However the main feature that had me sold is the quick emergency release system they implemented. Great helmet and it's not as pricey as the other top of the line helmets. Arai Corsair V, AGV Pista, etc.

I've worn a RF-1000 for 5 years, skipped on the 1100 and just picked up a brand new 1200. Its lighter and more compact but fit is pretty much the same, obviously its still tight right now because its not broken in.

Thanks all, I tried on the HJC FG-17 X-Fuera felt very comfortable in the medium. Great price...now I can be squidly?.

yeah, I grabbed an HJC CL-17 recently as a beater helmet, and it's just as comfortable as my qwest, AND comes with a full pinlock system in the box.
