How cost effective it would be.... $1300 to save me from riding my R6 7000 Kilometers just to experience the Rocky's on it... I think it's worth it. Of course, buying a bike in BC/AB and flying it back here becomes an option as well, that saves you $650.

Wow, that is actually pretty reasonable... seems like the hardest part is doing the paperwork. You don't have to worry about crating it or anything. Sure, you could rent (though this is pretty cost competitive) but imagine the bonus of riding around in Europe on YOUR bike.

Those rates are very reasonable. I shipped a bike to BC about 6 years ago via fastfrate and it was only $300, but I had to source a crate, get it to the truck yard with the crate, etc etc, and it took a week to get there. I am sure the rates are higher now.

To be able to fly the bike to BC for $650, meet the bike there, ride around, then ride home is a great deal.

My biggest concern would be handing the bike over to their "cargo specialists"... as I've seen what they can do to luggage, what are they going to do to a bike they don't really want to load?

Just called them for a quote from Toronto to Calgary. 950$ flat with taxes and fees included with an Air Canada ticket, need a certificate from a dangerous goods consultant which is 100-200$

Well, they do offer insurance, which is pretty much a given that you would take it. The bigger question is, if you arrive and there's damage, can you still carry on with your trip? Or does everything come to a screeching halt while they process your claim?

Price seems very reasonable for Europe. $1600 + insurance for there and back again to Europe. You are not limited in time, could go 3 weeks, 4 weeks and the price of having a bike there does not go up. A quickly checked the price to rent a GS for a week in German, price was $1,139 + insurance, plus 1600 euro security deposit.

Would be nice if you did not have to fly with Air Canada at least, you can find cheaper and better airlines for less.

Good afternoon,

I am based in the GTA (Toronto area) and am a member of a large online motorcycle enthusiast forum called GTA Motorcycle forum, the URL is http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/

I came across the following article about your service which allows passengers to fly their motorcycles to various destinations on AC flights. Here is a copy of the article:

http://canadamotoguide.com/2015/03/03/air-canadas-new-motorcycle-cargo-options/

I am writing to enquire whether it may be possible to get a group rate discount which members of the GTA Motorcycle forum could use if they choose to ship their motorcycles on an AC flight to the distinations listed on your brochure?

Look forward to receiving an early and positive response.

Best regards,

Will advise once I get a response from them.

Cheers!

That's not bad at all if that's the price for return. It'll cost you as much to drive as it would to fly out with your bike. The only problem would be getting the rest of your equipment and then getting from the airport to the track. Obviously a rental truck would be needed.

its a really good deal, awkward part is all fuel must be out of the bike. Find a gas pump next to the frt terminal at any airport? better have a CAA I'm out of gas option.

^ if you read the link fully then you'd have noticed up to 1/4 of fuel is OK.

Shipping overseas is cheaper than freight companies and x10 faster. I can see an rvf400 & rz500 in my near future.

thank for the info.

Coupled with my sister's stand by tickets... we're looking at a steal

Heh... hmmm. I wonder how hard it would be to dig up a Kawasaki Balius II. I guess there isn't any reason this wouldn't work for importing bikes
