Afx fx-39-ds

Does anyone have a AFX FX-39-DS? I really like them, but no one has the locally. Anyone have a medium I could try? Any idea how they compare to Shark RSR sizing?

Polaris makes a DS helmet. It is the exact helmet, just does not say AFX on it. I have a large... does not fit my oval head. I usually wear HJCs.

If your head grows, I would sell mine cheap, with tinted/mirror visor as well. I wore it twice for about 1/2 hour each time.

Fly Trekker is also the same helmet, available at Royal and GP Bikes and potentially others as well.
I just bought one (in hi-viz yellow) and it's not bad -- my biggest pet peeve with it is that visor does not have a defog position (slightly opened) -- I intend to fix this by drilling this into the visor myself (quick and easy fix).

I also have two Shark RSR2 helmets -- fit is about the same (round head), and sizing is similar also (I'm an L in both).

The AFX, from the reviews I remember reading, have more of an oval fit compared to the Fly helmet.

Who has the polaris helmet locally?

I'l give the fly a try.

Looks like a good helmet to trash :)

The Fly is based on the Afx but the liner material is different,as is the fit. the AFX gets great reviews on advrider.com. i am considering one myself.

I would say search the advrider forum. The fit, colours, similarities and differences have all been discussed over there. One of their vendors was the forst dealer to get both, so he is very well versed in it. In fact the ADVers got to decide on some of the colours and graphics available, as AFX and Fly wanted input from their target market.

sorry for digging up an old thread......

anyone else out there have dual sport helmets?
I'd love to try some different ones on if I could.

The AFX sucked BIG time. Worst visor I ever had. Ridiculously hazy and it fogged up very easily. Stay away from Afx/Fly. The beak on any DS helmet will be annoying at highway speeds. Royal distributing probably has most DS helmets

Thanks for the review, and clearly the peak will have its limits at speed, but then again so does a supermoto.......lol
I don't plan on doing 120km down the highway too often. And if I do decide to do any distance on the highway my street bucket will go on.

I bought the Fly hi-viz helmet last year. Fits my round noggin really well.
For the price, it's a great deal. Finish does not compare with more expensive helmets (in fact the paint has already chipped in one place, now covered by a sticker). Liner is also not as soft, but not bad overall.

I don't have any issues at, say, 100 kph as far as air resistance is concerned, but it increases exponentially beyond that. 120 is doable, but I wouldn't want to go any faster with it on.

I have one and only complaint is I wish I could open the visor a little as another poster mentioned. Other than that, I like it. Ordered mine online from Jaffrum as price was best and shipping was good. FYI Dualsportplus has an HJC helmet on sale right now. Might want to check it out. They are great to deal with.

I have the MSR DS helmet and find it surprisingly comfy and good at highway speed. It is the same shell as the AFX and Fly. All the shields & hardware are interchangeable as well. Good helmet for the Money... as they say you get what you pay for. I paid like 140$ from Gnarlyparts.ca. Some goggles also fit under the shield if your gonna go into dusty areas.
