Most likley an inductive proximity sensor not optical....Its sensing the metal and the gaps between it, not seeing them per say(optical)... My CNC machines have a mix of optical and proxy sensors on them, the proxy are not affected by dirt and dust like the optical ones are... Last edited: May 18, 2011

TheDirty Well-known member May 18, 2011 #6 It would be a reluctance sensor rather than an inductive one, but still no issue with cleaning.
