I worked with a guy that got them pretty bad. Whenever they flared up he got real moody, we use to say he had roid rage.

I like how the interviewer said the front of the bike was covered in bugs, and "looks like 128K". I'm wondering why it looks so clean. I can get that many bugs in a half hour anywhere outside of the city. Even if he's riding all slab, I'm amazed the bike doesn't look a lot worse. He can't have enough time to clean it very often.

I'd also like to know how many hours he must have lost replacing the stator, multiple fuel pumps, 17 tires and 5 rims. How does he put 1K miles every day when it has to go into a shop unexpectedly?

I have so many questions I'd love to ask that guy.

Even the oil change every five days really starts to use up a lot of time. You probably need to aim for ~1200 miles a day so you have some buffer on days the bike needs some mechanical attention.

I could be wrong but I understood the claim was he was doing 1K each and every day and not just averaging 1K per day.

The former would seem to be almost impossible given inevitable mishaps like the ones he described. Then again, the interview was going on about needing to add 500 miles that day, which suggests 1K on every day.

It sounds like he is trying his best to get 1000 miles every day. If my fuel pump or stator craps out at the side of the road, then I need to get a tow (to the closest indian capable shop), then I need to get a shop to fix it, it seems almost impossible to get 1000 miles that day nor probably the next one.

If you really want to keep the distance up, support van as the follow vehicle and it keeps driving while the poor mechanic wrenches on the bike in the back.
 
Iron Butts are so weird and make less than zero sense to me.

People won't do a day of unpaid manual labour and help build a family a home with Habitat for Humanity... but they'll turn around and put their body through even worse for a day, just to try to get external validation from people who don't care, and join some weird internet circle-jerk from the few that do.

Imagine having to explain an Iron Butt to aliens? They would get back in their little saucer and fly away like "Nope, no intelligent life on this planet."

And before anyone accuses me of getting on moral high horse here, I'm not saying I'm volunteering to build someone a house either. I'm as much of a lazy piece of **** as you lol

I'm just saying of all the things you could do with a motorcycle on a healthy day of your life, and of all the places you could explore and people you could see, an iron butt has to be the weirdest flex in all of motorcycling.

Whenever someone tells me they did one, all I can think is, "Did you really run out of better things to do?"
