5 Dangerous Ducati 1199 Panigale recalls... Ouch!

First they cant keep Rossi, now is recalls, whats next...?

It only affects 2400 units. But then again that is probably all of them out there lol. Should never have happened. I kind of expect this coming from a small production company but I have seen worse with big car companies lol ie toyota, fall downs. Thank god my monster isnt affected

Still being built by Italians I guess.

Pretty sure anyone who wasn't a first time Ducati owner was expecting this. Just more time to bond with the dealership. :P

On a related note, the Ninja zx-10 article popped up for me as well with issues.

I have heard alot of these "the bike shakes itself to pieces" problems, speaking to someone from the industry he mentioned to me that Ducati is having major problems with the Pani, and the frameless design is partly the problem.

Now i'm not saying he is or isn't full of it but seeing things like this does make me wonder....

On the other hand your buying a fairly advanced machine, bound to be some growing pains...just sucks that you pay 30k and have alot of these issues.

Q - Do other small Manufacturers have as many issues as the Ducati's (Aprilia/Moto G/MV) ?

I wouldn't extrapolate that much from these recalls, they look like either assembly issues or component quality issues. With any low volume manufacturer, both are common. Look at all the pretty Ferraris that catch fire when a new model comes out. :P To be honest, I'd expect it when buying something like that, but that would only mean being prepared to deal with the manufacturer and/or dealer. Usually you will get taken care of.

And to answer your last question, I wouldn't compare numbers, but yes they have issues. I remember my Triumph T595 having some serious recalls as well!

Its just a few loctite, nothing to alarmed about

Sent from my phone using my paws

The recall is mostly affecting Euro bikes, and to top it off I have had more problems / recalls that have affected me on established second year models of Kawis then my Pani.

After 3 years on my '09 ZX10R I had a recall on a voltage regulator that was prone to catching fire. So far the Pani recalls have not affected the vast majority of models released. And though not recalls per se, I have had notorious problems with '06 ZX10R soft spongy brakes prone to dangerous chatter and fading, as well as second gear excessive wear and eventual failure on my '05 ZX6R. The 6R was taken care of (parts only) even after the 1 year warranty expired because Kawi was kind enough to admit the problem was widespread with that model.

Yellow journalism at it’s finest. There isn’t a manufacturer out there that hasn’t had both major and minor problems with their products. I’ll bet that if you look hard enough you’ll discover technical bulletins or full on recalls for every model built by which ever manufacturer you wish to pick on.

Whether you pay $14000 or $40000 for your new pride and joy makes no difference. It’s still depressing when something goes wrong and you have to takeit back to the dealer.

Oh and just for the record, the best looking, most incredible sounding and just plain thrilling to be near Ducati is the Desmocedici 16RR.

However, for those of us that look at all makes, (and do not have an unlimited budget) it’s hands down the new MV Agusta F3.
