Known issues for this generation are the fuel sensor sender gauge and the throttle body linkage.
Both can be repaired by someone who has some degree of experience working with tools. I am in commercial sales but reasonably decent with my hands and would tackle the projects. The fuel sender needs software to be married to the CANBUS.
I purchased a maintenance app that is very widely regarded globally and a OBD2 reader to do the other maintenance myself. The CANBUS needs to be told you've changed the oil cuz BMW.
**** on these bikes just doesn't break. Valve adjustments, final drive gear oil and gear oil every 12k km which can be done in under 45 minutes each including beer breaks.
I have not experienced parts being offside expensive. The engine and gearbox have been improved and modified over decades and they just don't break that easily.
