The 2026 Ontario Guzzi Riders was held again in Lavigne.
There was a record number of registered attendees.
Unfortunately because of a stalled front over Sudbury the weather was less than stelar.
Being diehard motorcyclists we chose to ignore the rain.
I road to the event on Thursday August 20 leaving at 7:00am and arriving at 1:30pm.
The weather was sunny most of the trip.
The bike was loaded more than normal but performed well.

I have never been a fan of "camping" and had reserved a Bunkie for 4 days and was sharing with another rider.

Thursday was pizza night put on by Joli Voyageur Resort & Campground.
This is an excellent family owned facility run by great people.
I would highly recommend it if passing thru or use as a "home base" for riding in the area.

Friday August 21
A ride was planned for Friday leaving from Chez Julie, Verner.
Weather wassail decent but you could tell rain was on its way.

Saturday August 22 2026

At the burger nite I promise sunshine for Saturdays ride to Killarney I was leading.
Everybody laughed!
The rain started Friday night and put an early end to the campfire bragging and telling of lies.
I listen to the rain on the steel roof of the bunkie all night.
Saturday morning was looking better and we got a late start after 10:30am after the breakfast. (part of meal plan)
The first stop was in Wahnapitae 85km out for gas because the next gas was 235km.
By the time we got there the sun had come out just to prove me right.
Unfortunately it went down hill from there.

The next stop was at Secord Falls and the rain was still holding off.

I was on my V7iii geared up and blew the horn to let everybody know we were on our way.
After a good 3 minutes I pulled away to continue on.
I was latter accused of not giving rider enough time to get ready.
HERDING CATS !!!
The rain held off until just before Killarney but stopped before we got there.
I had made reservations a month before at the Killarney Mountain Resort and confirmed by phone an hour out.
Somehow I must have been talking to the wrong person because we got a blank look upon arrival.
The Maitre D was concerned that we wanted to sit out on the patio as the tables and chairs may be wet and it might rain.
After I pointed out all 14 of us were wearing rain gear he proceeded to accolade us.
The waitress was well organized and our meals were ordered and arrived in a timely fashion.
The food was excellent and the rain held off and that was appreciated by the wait staff.

A bunch of old white guys (typical Guzzi rider)

On our return trip to Lavigne it started to rain shortly after we left Killarney and continued all the way back.
I am sure at the campfire years later people sitting around the campfire will regale in how we survived the
hurricane, tornado, flood, hail, snow & seeing visions of dead people.

The Saturday evening meal package was cook your own steak (a quality peace of meat supplied)
Baked potato, corn on the cob, salad and cake were supplied.
With 4 BBQs this year the steak cooking went much better helped my not everyone trying to do it all at one time.
The traditional bottle of fine Brandy made its usual rounds.

Most riders departed after Sunday breakfast. (part of meal plan)
I stayed on for another day to relax and hope for dryer conditions.

Monday August 24

Monday started out with drizzle (smir if you're Scottish) and varied between sun and light showers all day.
Because of the black clouds I decided not to take the detour to Snug Harbour.
It is still on my bucket list, so maybe next year.
I stayed at the Stone Fountain Motel north of Fenelon Falls.
This place is excellent value in a budget accommodation.

Tuesday August 25

August 25.jpg

Tuesday was mostly dry and sunny with an occasional isolated shower.
It was an uneventful trip home with the exception of some nasty road works outside Deloro.
The road builders were dumping clay to build up the roadbed and it was soft and slippery.
Just at the end of the roadworks there was a family standing at the end of their driveway watching the excitement.
The six of them where dressed in matching denim dungarees and straw hats,
You just know your "North of 7".
Unfortunately my sport cam was turned off.
