2015 Yamaha R1

It was inevitable. I hope they don't stop at 200hp. But it'll do for now.

I really hope they don't kill off the untertail exhaust. That was 90% of the appeal to me.. especially now that Ducati etc. have discontinued that design.

Better render. And with F4 pipes!

There's a reason no one does it anymore...

This. There is a reason why the Fireblade, 675 and Ducati ditched the under tail exhaust - it robs the bike of power.

Pardon me? Ducati won 11 WSB Championship titles (14 Manufactures Championships) with under tail exhaust bikes. Honda and Yamaha one each for Manfactures. Honda’s Moto 3 bikes seem to producing lots of horse power with under tail exhausts as well.

LOL are you comparing everyday CBRs and Ducatis to what's used in WSBK? Really?

Lol lets talk about F1 car features in relation to a FORD FOCUS

The reason is the advent of catalytic converters, leading to much more heat at the last third of the exhaust and complaints of roasted nut syndrome.

And of course centre of gravity is also affected. Higher versus lower CG when turning.

I prefer exhaust below but my reason is different, I don't want to have my clothes reeking of exhaust if it is a under the seat one.

While I'm sure there's many valid reasons not to have an undertail exhaust, it's hard to deny that it looks amazing, which let's face it is a big reason why we like whatever bikes we like.

I'm also a lover of under-seat exhaust, it looks sexy. So the R1 2015 has an app which lets you make your own fuel maps or at least change them on a whim with a push of the button of your iPhone? Wow that's what I call a useful feature. How about your phone ringing anywhere in the world when your bike is moved or tampered with?

that's not nearly a fair comparison...

A stock superbike is not comparable to a WSBK or MotoGP bike but it cannot be compared to a ****ing grocery getter either.

Well, actually for a grocery getter I've seen some pretty done up Focus's but a superbike has to be compared to something like Lambo at the least.

LP640 vs Veyron is more like it.

Are you ok man?

No, I was trying to illustrate that Ducati, Honda and Yamaha didn't see a need to use conventional side mounted cans for their race bikes like their Aprilia, Suzuki and Kawasaki competitors were/are using.
As for everyday CBR's and similar street bikes the under tail exhaust models don't seem to be lacking much h.p. in comparison.
So, please explain to us why you believe under tail exhausts "...robs the bike of power."

Most racing bikes still use undertail because of cornering clearance, and ability to mount the engine lower, which is a lot more weight than an exhaust pipe.

Apparently there is 5 special edition 2015 R1's coming to Canada with full carbon fiber fairing's and full Ohlins suspension. Good friend of mine has his hands on a pre-order for one if they release it for 2015 or 2016.
