BASE MSRP $3,999 (vs. Honda's CBR 250R @ $3,499)

Hello, I'm new to motorcycling, so wanted to hear what you guys thought about this motorcycle in general.
Will there be a major difference between GW250, CBR250R, and Nina 250R in terms of the insurance premium?
I'm 19, with class G2M2 license.

Good looking bike except for the overly large front mud guard. Rear mud guard also could have been bobbed a bit. Bike is heavy (403 lbs. wet) for a 250 but should sell well as it is priced right at $3999.00 CAD. Wouldn't be afraid of a Chinese assembled bike as Suzuki is obviously all over the quality control at the factory.

I agree it is a very nice looking dash

+1
That looks like a great dash!! It has the gear indicator and everything! Pleasant to look at. I hope it is readable day and night, under all light conditions. Bike looks great. I hope they sell a lot.

May not be your cup of tea but if you are looking for a 250 that is beginner and insurance friendly, check out supermotos and dual sports.

They dont even blink if you drop them!

Yes sir, I am looking at used supermoto's as well, but they are harder to find (used) - not that many people selling them as compared to the sport/street beginner models. I actually like both supermotos and sport models. It is unlikely that I'm gonna buy this Suzuki GW250 brand new, especially it will be over 5K out the door.

does anyone know how to calculate freight and pdi on new motorcycles?

is there a set amount or does it vary based on vehicle price

Check the web page for the bike and there is a calculator online that will help you figure all that info out.

Also I'm selling my 250 Ninja. Great starter bike. If you don't buy mine, at least put some consideration into this brand. The CBR 250 is nice but the Ninja was comfortable I found and seems more well built. Kawasaki has been the king of 250's for years so it also helped my choice of bike in the end.

Best of luck in finding your bike! Let us know what you get and we'll see you on the roads soon! COME ON SPRING!!!

No matter what 250 you go with, it'll be a good choice. If you're buying new, you'll get a great deal on the GW 250 but honestly I would look at used. Actually, I wouldn't even look at a 250 if I were you. Look at getting the Suzuki DRZ 400 Supermoto, just as cheap on insurance and anyone who owns one will tell you SM's are the most fun you can have on a motorcycle.

Well lets qualify it. Best tool for the job right? DRZ is a compromise tool. It can do both street and off-road, but if you will be street 100% of the time then I will say that maybe a street specific bike is better and more affordable.

My bike is a Suzuki TU250X. It's a street-only bike and its a great little thing. Suzuki makes good stuff.
