2013 - Maybe a new bike

Depends on your inseam I guess and general comfortability to the individual...I'm 31-32" seemed ok but coming from the Buell it certainly different feel.

You can get rear controls put on a Vrod which changes the rider positioning quite a bit.

RE: FZ8. At the show Brampton Powersports had a few 2012 Anniversary editions for $7999. Thats a pretty great deal and a great looking motorcycle.

What is your take on the 013 Night rod toshison? I'm liking it everything but the price...lol. Was over at the Victory bikes...and they look pretty cool up close and personal...and more reasonably priced to some extent. Any comments feel free dude.

Well for what it's worth. I would not buy any motorcycle without fully adjustable suspension on both ends. It might be fine for some, but not for most.

Most riders are on cruisers and half sportbike riders do not know how to fine tune the suspension.

Hey Kool
I really really llike the motor in the VRSC's, so much fun. I somewhat prefer some of the design elements/details on the VROD Muscle over the Night Rod os Id personally get a Muscle between the two but the Night Rod is a bit more comfortable and I dig the blacked out look.

Moving on from the Buell huh? Time for something new I guess.

I like the Vrod. It's like a Vstrom motor in a light cruiser chassis. Although style wise the M109R does it for me.

Hey all,

Picked up my "new to me" ride for 2013 from the Jan motorcycle show.

2011 Honda CB1000R

Looking at the CB there is not a single change between 2011 and 2013 so I was able to save about 5k off the sticker price of a 2013 and of course still has full factory warranty etc. And being 998cc it doesn't really affect my insurance.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Congrats bro sexy bike with a nice smooth engine. Test rode one and pulled like a cbr1000 but was comfortable.

The CB1000R is a pretty decent bike, lots of modifications you can make to them as well.

Thanks guys,

I am very pleased, in my search for a "one bike does it all" bike I found this one to be the best fit. it's fast and nimble for city riding, yet 4 cylinder allows it to be smooth for cruising and touring. Plus I love the look and with a few tasteful mods ( down the road ) I can really make it mine. My SV650S is up for sale and I'll miss it, as it was a great bike but I am sure the next owner will love it as well.

Cheers

Congrats on the new bike...needs some mods for sure....mirrors
Sorry for the half jack of this thread.
Thanks Tosh for your 2 cents...I did look at the Muscle closely but the Night rod has more comfort exactly...for longer trips. Still love the Buell...wish to keep it, but space is a problem more so

Congrats man. That's a really nice bike.

All this talk makes me want a new bike myself. In fact, my new years resolution is to get myself something with a bit more go.

no worries, it's was your "jacking" that kept things moving !!

Yes, mirrors are on my list. Will ride it stock for awhile to get the feel, you don't want to rush into mods before fully undertsanding the benifit of them.

All I can say from experience is....buy really good quality stuff...if you can't afford wait and save up for each item. The cheap Chinese knockoffs look the same when new...but in time they will be just crap.

Oh ya Tosh....I just bought a newish truck instead of a new bike. Obviously the truck salesman was far more motivated...as I was ready for either to happen. The Harley sales dudes must be far too busy to get back to me. I've been waiting. Next year I guess. 2011 GMC Sierra ext.cab black 4x4 39000k $21000 otd. Snooze you lose.

Congrats Jampy, love the single side arm rear and it's nice bike.

Kool,

I know you already bought the truck so a bike may not be on the short list this year but, I'd honestly look south of the boarder. I've spent a few bucks on the tuber for the spring but, I'm also thinking a VRod would be a nice stable mate.

Cheers.

Thanks man and I hear ya....you had to put that link up didn't you...lol.
It's a very viable solution....and when spring comes I will be wanting...hopefully the Buell will keep me for another season. We'll see come spring and if I sell my Buell at the right price...then the game begins...lol.

I hear you, I always look for quality when buying anything. That is why I feel it is best to ride stock to ensure that any mods/upgrades have benefit. Congrats on the truck. I remember looking at Harley's at a locale dealership, it the only time a sales person told I don't want what they are selling. "you don't want a Harley, what you want is a nice sports bike..." first and lasts time looking at Harley's

Was checking out the Victory bikes at the show....talked to a dude from Burlington...seemed like a cool guy...said I have a Buell and such he was that's cool...we could deal. But I'm up here in Newmarket, Oshawa or Mississauga is closer. So I emailed Ready Honda/Victory and sent pics at his request. Said they don't make Buells anymore so parts and service is not available....lol. What a idiot...at least just say you know nothing about Buell and that's cool. Told them all Buell parts are available at all HD dealers and service can be done at most if not all. Parts are even easier via the internet to alot of US websites. Again lost a potential customer. Best I wait to spring anyways...can ride to dealers or it will sell privately when riding season arrives. The dealer who I bought the truck from...took my worn out Canyon and lowered the askin price...just wanting to deal. The guy told me...not sayin 100% true...they made $600 on the deal is all. Just seems weird the truck salesman way more motivated during the winter yhan bike dealers...whats with that?

Thing I like about Victory is the low number of seals and gaskets in the motor compared to H.D. A lot less. I'm not sure what that means in the long run but clean sheet design impresses.
