guys need your opinions....

need to get my first bike. I see many people selling their 250s from the upper 3s to low 4s....

Performance wise I know 300>250

As a totally new first time after talking just a basic course at RTI would you guys ever buy a new bike or justify paying 2/3rd of its asking price in getting an older one just cause of the fear of dropping it?

wat? you've never owned a bike?

I remember reading advice from you on trackdays and slipper clutches and all kindsa ****.. plus your post count. I don't get it.

+1 to this....

imo, get whatever you don't mind dropping. There are few who don't drop, and a lot who do drop. Dropped mine 4 times in the first season (never again in the following). Gf dropped and low sided hers in first season.

Its really up to you and what you prefer. We're talking 3-5 grand here, not 35-50,000.

F it then...i'm just getting the 300 and riding it only on sat and sun between 4:30 am and 6:00 am till it get used to it

lol wtf - once you get it.. find some people to ride with.. a 250cc-300cc is nothing to be afraid of. It's pretty much a bicycle.

I got bored of mine in a week. Topped it out, ripped through all the gears available and made a **** ton of mistakes (never dropped it once though).

lol.. give me a shout if you want to ride sometime (not at 4:30 am)

Also.. I bought my ninja 250 (2010 special edition with 5K on the dash) for $3000 taxes in.. modded. For the 300 I got quoted almost 7K out the door. That's more than double. Think twice.

For the minimal difference in price. If you can afford it. I would get a 300R. It's worth the improvements.

You guys are busting his balls for explaining how a slipper clutch works since he doesn't ride, yet its not a difficult concept. You don't have to ride a bike to understand it...

C'mon Paul - you know exactly how this place works.

Caught me with my pants down, didn't you?

In reality, this I say based on driving a 6 spd...Cars do not have slipper clutches....( or do they?)

Seems you also have done some research on the zx14R as your signature implies. Get it bud, just put it on low power and full traction control and you will be fine....:) joking

you need to drop the notion that car experience is all that relevant to motorcycles, and no cars have no slipper clutch. overconfidence in riding can be lethal.

So from asking you guys to making a decision...

I purchased a ninja 300 today fro kahuna...

Thanks to all you folks for your inputs....every single one of them I will pay attention to...

Now I'm $ hit scared about taking delivery...
