2007 GSXR750 vs. 2005 GSXR750... any major differences? (track bike question)

Hey all,

This posts ends my long hiatus from the board. My silence is for no other grand reason except that I had nothing worthwhile to post. :)

I'm wondering about the GSXR 750, specifically:

- if there are major differences between the 2005 and 2007 models (or just minor ones)
- your thoughts on their track riding performance
- ease of maintenance considerations
- whether you find there is much difference between the 600 and the 750, especially on the track

I can't speak to the differences between the '05 and '07, other than the '07 is a newer generation than the '05.

I have a 600 for track use and a 750 for the street. My 750 is stock stock stock, but the 600 is geared 15/47 (I believe). I can't say that I notice much difference in the feel of the two bikes. The 750 obviously has a few more ponies to play with, but depending on tracks you ride and your ability that may not make a difference. Note how well Jody Christie keeps up on his 600 in the Cdn. Superbike series.
 
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but there are no longer any classes for a 750 anymore. This is not a factor if you just want to do track days and not get into racing.

I suppose you can race with the litre bikes, as the poster above me mentioned, I know some riders at mosport opted to ride their 600s instead of their litre bikes. Tell you the truth I have no idea how they kept up on the straights with them being so long, but hey, they did. Shrug.

Thanks for the reference... I checked WikiP before posting my question. I didn't note much of a difference, but I wanted to hear/read it from riders who would have more knowledge about the real-world difference and handling between the two bikes, and not rely only on a re-drafted tech list.
 
You'd probably get a far better deal on the older one, the differences are not worth a lot of $$. And a 600 could end up being cheaper all around (assuming you are going to license it for the street) over a 750. They are both basically the same size, but the 750 is a few pounds heavier.
