2006 Kawasaki 650R for $3400, a good deal?

There's a place here that has a 2006 Kawasaki 650R for $3400. Original owner and he was in his 60's, so I'm guessing the bike wasn't abused. Also, the bike was maintained regularly through the dealer. From what I understand it's stock, except for heated handlebars and they put two new tires on.

BUT.. it has 56,000KM.... So my questions is should I buy it, keep it for a year or so and probably sell it again for a similar price?

If the KM's are scaring you my 2007 blue 650 with 28,000km is going to be going up for sale soon. PM me for details

Nothing wrong with higher km bikes if they are taken care of. My zx6 is closing in on 50k and it runs just as it did when i first got her at 6k.

you can usually hear and see most of the problems. look for oil leaks and oil residue on the inside of the fairings. listen to strange rattles - these types of things usually mean an expensive, time consuming fix.

Well, I did notice oil around the bottom area of the engine, but the bike is a little dirty when you look close. So I'm not sure if that have from a oil change or a leak or what.

BTW: Thx for the pointers.

I bit the bullet and got the bike (pics in my first post). Motorsports Pickering confirmed that is was owned by a man in his 60s and he was the original owner. So while it has a lot of millage, I doubt he abused it like a 20 year old would ;) I'll let everyone know how it goes.

Congratulations, I looked at that bike a couple of weeks ago. I was told the same thing, one owner, a guy in his sixties (same age as me). I would have bought it but I didn't have the cash.
I did like the looks of the bike and I'd be interested to know how it works out.

I had the same paint scheme on my 650r. Good looking bike, and a good ride too. Congrats!

Small world. I'll let yaz know how she runs.

Well, I have her in my possession and went for a ride. She be fast ;) Even though Motorsports Pickering did a decent job at cleaning the bike, I spent most of the evening re-cleaning. Over the winter I'll probably strip her down and do a super clean-up job. I like things clean, it's a problem ;)

Everything seems to be in order with the bike and I hope to have loads of fun riding.

Congrats, I hope you'll be happy with the purchase and enjoy the ride. There's nothing wrong with clean
