Need help with a speedometer issue I'm having on a 2003 Suzuki GSX-R 1000. Everything on the display is lighting up and working except the speedometer just reads 0mph. The RPM gauge is functioning properly. Guy I bought the bike off of said he put new sprockets on it. So I did my research on all these forums. I checked the speed sensor to make sure it was properly connected. Then checked the speed sensor rotor and it was tight. Now I'm just lost.

Electrical problems are always a pain to diagnose. If you have a cheap multimeter you can check to make sure power and ground is actually getting to the sensor. You can also check to see if the signal is getting all the way to where ever the sensor wire goes to, usually the front gauges.

was there once a speedo healer spliced into the signal wire, and then removed, leaving the OEM signal wires poorly connected?

That's my blind internet guess, based on nothing.

Checking for opens in the 3 wires is pretty easy and straight forward.
