Lift up your bike on a 4x4 by leaning to one side at a time. You will need 2 or 3 pieces ( one foot each ). Do it on leveled ground and you should be fine.

Find out what your oil capacity is ~3-4L I would guess and find the smallest drain pan you can that will hold a little more. You depending on drain plug and oil filter location you should be able to find one at Canadian Tire or Princess Auto to fit the bill.

I've made custom drain pans out of coolant jugs that work well. Just cut a window in the side and leave the cap on. When it's time to drain the pan, just take off the cap and tilt. You can cut down the sides to make it even slimmer. Just remember that the capacity goes down.

As far as keeping your brick driveway clean you can put down some plywood or cardboard and then put the bike on top before you do any work to catch any spills or drips. If your really concerned about spilling a large amount of oil get yourself a piece of thin sheet (plywood, plastic) and run a thick bead of caulking around the outside of it and make yourself a little spill pond. Should give you lots of time to clean up any spills before they can make it to your driveway.

Thanks for the reply's I have bought a motorcycle jack from crappy tire to do maintanence on my bike, I just got the bike with 17800, I'm now at 18400. How often do you recomand changing the oil and filter? And what type of oil is best?

Thanks

The CT jack won't help on the oil changes - the front arm is right under the drain plug.

Use a low cut triangle oil pan (Princess Auto), a 17mm wrench, a filter wrench (princess auto) - that all you need. As for oil - go to Royal and see what they have.

I was told to use bel ray, I use only bel ray products in my dirt bike and it has been great stuff, would you recommand it for the street bike? Or use something else?

Thanks for the help

Depending on your use, I changed mine every 5000 but it was very dirty, so I changed it at 3000 and it was semi OK so next change I will probably do at 4000 and check then. I skipped the filter once but that was a bad idea, it looked like it was dipped in sand. My filter was $5 so I will change it at every oil change.

Any 10w40 with no power conservation is ok, I use whichever cheap oil I get, but that's me. Other members have strong feelings about this topic so it is really up to you. good luck.

Thats expensive oil. Just use Rotella T6 , its on sale at Canadian tire now .
Use your lift, but you need to put thin blocks of wood on the ends of the lift where it can contact the Shadows frame.
Also you will need to stand the bike straight upright to slide the lift under.
This will make it clear the oil pan and drain plug.

I don't mind the price, I think bel ray is the best, I use it in my dirtbike and when I tare down the bike to do new top ends each season the cylinder and piston still look new.
